Chicago November 2008 - Jensen Solo Panel - Enhanced Edition Con Video

CHICON 2008 solo panel with Jensen Ackles. This event took place on Sunday, November 16, 2008. The source videos are not my own and I used multiple sources; see below for details. More than half of the final edit came from the video AgtSpooky generously provided me, which I believe did not previously exist on KZread.

ENHANCEMENTS
1. I ran an upscale and stabilization program to improve video quality and reduce shakiness, and I made color corrections to try to make the colors look more natural and consistent between the sources. The end result isn't perfect, it was originally recorded with 2008 technology, but I do think it looks much better than any other video of this event published to date.
2. I added (mostly) subtle content to help explain pop culture references that viewers might not be familiar with and to refresh people's memories of episodes being discussed.
3. I added GOOD, color-coded subtitles, unlike the auto-generated atrocities most of these older videos have that don't even make sense. If you turn on the CC button, these sometimes chaotic videos will make a LOT more sense! If I wasn't confident about what they said, even if I thought I could guess based on context, I marked it as [inaudible] in the subtitles.

This site helped me figure out which episodes had the side by side gun and the colt Jensen was talking about; the images themselves came from my own Blu-ray set as did the other images from the show. This was wonderful! I was actually putting off watching this because I thought I'd seen it before, but then today, I thought I'd just throw it on in the background while folding laundry (just to see if there was anything I'd missed the first time around, maybe one of your enhancements), and it was actually completely new to me! (Or, if I've seen it before, I caught very little of it on that watch. Cuz I don't remember this one at all!) Anyway, this video was great. I obviously don't have anything to compare it to, but your work in making these such a smooth watching experience is always apparent!

Thank you so much! It makes me so happy that the subtitles and references have been helpful. I’ve started working on the Vancouver 2009 panels, so you can expect to see the Breakfast video from that convention next. :) It usually takes me a few weeks to finish a video, so it will be a bit of a wait. I’m temporarily skipping over some conventions for which I couldn’t find videos that would upscale well. My hope is that if I give it some time, I might manage to make contact with people who have original videos they’re willing to contribute and end up with something better in the long run. But if not, I still plan to come back to the ones I skipped and do what I can with the available videos. I can still do the subtitles, color corrections, extra content, etc.

If you know anyone who might have some, I’d also greatly appreciate it if you could let them know about my search. Even if your videos are on KZread, I’d rather get my hands on the original files if you still have them. The originals are much more likely to upscale well. If I use your videos, I’ll of course credit you. Also, if I can get your videos to upscale (I can’t always), then I’d be happy to send the upscaled versions back to you for your collection. Thank you!
