I don't take issue with the picks. The Hawks still clearly are drafting for the future and don't expect to be good anytime soon. That sucks but that's why it's a rebuild.

I bet Kyle Davidson checks you guys in the comment section to make sure he does the right things

Your tired argument “you’re not a GM so you can’t possibly have an opinion or even be right and the GM is a God that knows everything and could care less about the peons” is lame.

Kd was trying to get to #4 to take Demidov. Offered Columbus #18 and next years #1. They said no. The reason kd traded from #20 to #18 was to try to move up further on draft night. Trading two 2nds to move from #34 to #27 has pros and cons. Vanacker has more chance of potential than prospects in the second. He also has the chance of not reaching it as well. What I have a problem with is trading away pieces for capital just to be taking a chance on another prospect. Draft picks could have been bundled to add current nhl player via trades. I just don't feel like Kd is using these draft picks to get the most return. Levshunov will be a great defenseman. Yes we need scoring but championships are won with relentless defense. Florida shutting down the greatest current offensive player is a perfect example. Chicagos 3 cups were won because we had 3 #1 defensive lines. You can also add offense a lot easier than defense through FA and trades. Kd doesn't plan to be highly competitive next year because we have 2 1st Rd picks. After this season that's when he will look to add players.

No he wasn't. KD would've offered that same deal to Montreal - a team that didnt even interview Demidov in Florida and skipped it entirely - but he didnt bc he was targeting Lindstrom - who was off the board after 4 so there was no need to offer Montreal the deal. if they were going after demidov they wouldve asked montreal what they wanted, they didnt, they wanted lindstrom

I think Vanacker's skillset is always going to translate to the NHL. His motor is insane and he does all the grimy shit you need to do in order to win a hockey game. He's not some future cornerstone or first-line player, but I think he's got a very good chance of playing a lot of games in the 2nd-4th lines at wing or C depending on the line. He's also a great locker room presence and put up the most points on a good OHL team while playing with a torn labrum basically the entire year. I'd wager Davidson talked to Lardis about him before the pick as well to get a read off someone who's spent an entire year playing with him. Boisvert shocked me at 18, but I'm not going to pretend i have the knowledge of an NHL scouting department.

I don't mind giving up the 2 seconds as it's just much more difficult finding value at the later 2nd anyway but I just feel like you could have used those two picks during last years season to either get a higher pick than 27 or even packaged those picks with 18 to move up or get a current nhl player instead of a prospect.

We get 3 players rated in the top 17 and some clowns on here are smarter than people who create the NFL Draft rankings!

My problem isn’t necessary with the picks (a little bit, I would have taken demidov, Eiserman and emery) but rather….why waste draft capital to move up for players that would have been there anyway? Hell…they could have traded back for future draft picks and still gotten these players.

Certainly going to be interesting to see how these picks develop. My concern with Davidson is he doesn’t seem to have proper draft intel about other teams. For example we know for a fact he tried to trade up last season when he didn’t have to. He was going to trade assets to draft Oliver Moore when he didn’t have to. Now it seems these two trades seem questionable.

I wanted Demidov but it seems he didn’t want to play here the habs played politics to get the player they wanted so I applaud our Gm for continuing to build this team.

Bowman type garbage, after all he learned from him and probably has him on speed dial, pathetic draft.

KD seems to work wonders taking bad contracts for future picks….that part I love about him. He’s stockpiled a ton of picks going all the way till 2027 What he does with those picks once he has them sucks. He doesn’t get credit for winning the lottery and taking bedard #1. A trained monkey could have done that.
