It's not as jaw-dropping and flashy as "Everybody Dance" (not much is!) but it is carving a groove so deep you can't escape. Tony Thompson's heavy drumming, Sammy Figueroa's sensational tubular bells, heck even the string section add to the rhythm, but Bernard Edwards's bass drives this song!

Nile Rodgers wrote arrangements that made everyone crush it....and yes, the bass did crush it. The bells....the horns riff....the strings sway, All just really well done. Nile was like a 24 year old Quincy Jones.

@@Jgeneraledger23: Nile Rogers (with the striped tie) is still with us. Luci Martin (longer hair), and Alpha Anderson (shorter hair) are still with us. Bernard Edwards (glasses) passed away in 1996. Nile Rogers still carries the name of Chic in live performances, however, he has new singers who are pretty-much young enough to be granddaughters of these ladies.

I am 40, my good friends are 35 and 36 and this type of music is our favorite!

As my mom once told me “you know, your father and I grew up in a time when music was so innovative, exciting and new (1960’s-1970’s).” I have to agree. Today’s music can’t hold a candle to what was played back in the day.

Chic changed the game... Probably the most influential R&B group of all time. Chic was the right name for these badass' The look, the strings, mad hooks and b-lines. Elite music that will never be equalled and unlike a lot of music from this era, the Chic sound always stayed fresh.

Baddest baseline in the '70s. Still the baddest baseline in 2024.

Bernard Edwards's mastery over those thick bass strings was simply otherworldly. 👌

For all those who don't know disco/funk music they would be surprised to see ( and hear ) the variety of instruments played in this kind of music Even those who enjoy disco, for that matter: we know it's good but don't really know why. So there it is !!❤❤❤

Suddenly without warning, like effervescent bursts of shimmering musical light. Listen to how right away this magical song begins with every instrument playing. From something bigger than us, somewhere larger than life. Just hear those swirling violins and that masterful bass playing, those radiant bell chime keyboards and mesmerizing vocals, multi dimensional musical brilliance, wow. This is musical perfection, dazzling and luminescent. Like easily one of my favorite songs ever made. Totally irrisitable and unforgettable. One helluva cruising song, especially to where someone waits for you, acceleration pedal down during chorus.

Tamla, Stax, Atlantic... To think there was a time well within my lifetime when black Americans set the pace in popular music with class. Assured blending of traditional instrumentation with newer electric sounds, propulsive and dynamic with melodiousness, nicely balanced vocals and instrumentation, dress to fit the elegance of the sound... where did it all go?

This song came out in 1978. Today is November 23, 2022 and I'm just NOW seeing the video for this song for the very first time. WTF?!?! See? THIS is why KZread is such a treasure to me and why I don't mind paying for their Premium subscription! KZread has shown me awesome stuff that I SHOULD HAVE seen years ago! Just think... there used to be a time when music artist used to bitch about their music being put on KZread. I really hope those music artists can truly appreciate how KZread keeps them relevant. If he'd never played on another song besides this and Everybody Dance, Bernard Edwards would still be one of the greats. Then he lays down one of the top bass lines of all time in Good Times. Legend!

Yeah, this was popular back in 1979, when I was 13 yrs.old, and I listened to it then, and can still appreciate it now. I'm saving it for my KZread music videos collection.

Man they are doing it, clean, smooth, classy. This beat, the voices and style is everything!!!

Disco was one form of music that bought Black, Gay, Hispanic folks out on the dance floor and created a common bond of love for the music. The 70s and Early 80s were everything! That is until the big disease with the little name hit. I love Disco and the late 70s into the 80s was my entry into Adulthood. I’ll give back most of those years along with most of the 90s. Too much loss…

That bassline is just MEANNNNN. Smooth and rumbbbly.

I miss so much that time i use to go to Studio 54 in 1977 i was 18 years old ( 254th west 54 Street) friend of mine was a busboy in studio 54, what at memories.😢

I'm so glad I found this! Timeless classic. This is music. Not the garbage they play today. I just love looking at the band playing on REAL instruments.

Bernard Edwards...amazing. Of course Nile can strum like a master. To top it off, they were such talented songwriters. I grew up with this music. Beautiful memories.

Nile Rogers and Tony Thompson the greatest rhythm section in the history of music.

Suddenly it's 1979 and the 18 year old me, is getting down to the geniuses that are Nile Rogers and Bernard Edwards. Thar bass line is everything...❤❤

no need for any of that in music, just talent and grooooove and Chic have plenty of both.

It's so sad about Bernard... He was definitely the best bass player in the funky disco times. Many tried to copy him, but his feel about rhythm is outstanding. Love Chic and all their produced songs for other artists. 👍👍👍🇺🇸🚐🇺🇸🌞😎

If we as humankind should ever have to introduce ourself to aliens with our best art and music. This song should be in the playlist.

Pure class, sophistication and timeless. One of my favorite songs.

Nile Rodgers is an outrageously underrated guitar player. I saw him open for Cher a few years ago and I was just floored by how truly awesome he is. He has such a distinct sound. The bass in this song is freaking great too. Chic had such fun songs.

It’s a good point. You hear polls of greatest guitar player of all time and it’s always the usual suspects: Jimmy Page, Clapton. No one ever mentions Nile Rodgers.

I must agree. It's the absolute funkiest I've ever heard. Bernard Edwards, man what a bass guru and godfather of funk!

I was born in 76 this is fire a classic hit!!

Two geniuses in one band. Bernard Edwards is almost without peer in this sort of bass playing. And then of course there's Nile Rodgers.

Imagine a 10 year old wanting this wonderful life changing record for Christmas. It was 1980 and I had no friends, no brothers or sisters, but this record gave me all that I needed, and soon I began to open up and become the social butterfly that I am today. I love you Chic ❤

My goodness, this is pop music ala FIRST CLASS. The singers, the men and band players are quite chic themselves.

Such a civilized beautiful soft danceable song. Even the bells sing the words "I want your love" ,Just Beautiful. Nothing compares to the music from those 1970's memorable years.
