He came and spoke at our High School when I was growing up. He was truly inspirational. I love the way his Dad convinced him to get a haircut when he was 16 and wanted to start driving. His father told him you have to cut your hair. He told his Dad that Jesus had long hair and there is nothing wrong with having long hair.. His dad told him Jesus walked everywhere he went too.

I remember following him in New Orleans when I was a kid. Definitely one of the most colorful guys who ever strode the fairways on the PGA Tour!
One funny Chi Chi story from years ago. I went to a Senior Open event at Stonebridge Country Club in IL. He had some good one liners that day but this one was the best. It was at a Par 3 (I think it was at 17). He had a deal with Toyota at that time. If someone got a hole in 1, they got a Caddy (Deville). Woman: "Hey Chi Chi! I bet that Caddy would be great with a hole in 1." Chi Chi replies in a polite tone- "Maam I have 7 Toyotas and 4 Lexus'. I dont need a Cadillac." Always fun to follow.
