Hi! Im looking for the Button that activate and release the system my RV doesn’t have. At the same time I have another problem the brake can release and activate but the red signals on the board never come out when I move the gear to N R or D. Another thing is that When I place the gear on “P” it doesn’t stop it’s like put on “N” Any idea of how to solve it? Thanks

I don't know. Maybe yours is operated with a foot pedal. If so maybe there is a switch on the pedal lever for the light that is bad. That's my best guess.

The way it works is there is a drum around the driveshaft with a brake in it. When you have the park brake released a hydraulic pump is pulling the shows away from the drum. Since I got a leak I lost hydraulic pressure which engaged the park brake. It's a little counterintuitive as to how it works. Like you would think it took hydraulic pressure to apply the brake instead of holding it open. Anyway the actuator is the hydraulic cylinder that pulls the shoes away from the drum when the brake is not engaged, like when you are riding down the road. So if you take the actuator completely out you won't have a park brake whatsoever. You will need to bring chucks, and a buddy with you any where you go instead. While you have it out I would also follow the hydraulic lines back to find the pump, and electrically disconnect it. It normally runs while the engine is on, and you don't want to burn up the pump by running it without hydraulic fluid. Good luck, and be careful.

Sorry. I didn't get that far. I just adjusted the worn out shoes all the way out, and left it. I have to chuck the tires on any kind of a hill. I found the shaft has to come out of the transmission to change the shoes, and I don't want to risk scoring the seal in the process because it doesn't leak the way it is.

I already fixed the seal from the pump itself and now this one you showed is leaking. The whole part may not have to come out. Just remove the seal and piston with the part on the truck. just unscrew the end of it. I will try it.

I never got around to replacing the pads, but there is a video on YT with I believe a British guy who does it. I know that shaft pulls out of the transmission. The guy in the video used a slide hammer, but I chatted with someone else who said it just slid out. Good luck! Let me know how it goes.

If you are trying to find the whole unit I think a junk yard is your best bet. Even then you would want to rebuild the cylinder before installing it. With a quick search I was able to find just the cylinder that bolts on to what I guess is the booster, but that alone is $500. I'd leave a link, but YT would probably hide this reply. It's at workhorseparts W8000504N - J71 Parking Brake Actuator. Someone in the comments section recently suggested you might just be able to remove that part without removing the whole unit. You might want to ask them how it went. That would be a lot easier than pulling the whole unit, and is almost certainly where the problem is with yours. Assuming you don't just want the entire unit for something completely different of course.

By any chance were you able to get a part number for the seal? I need to replace the same thing in my unit, any help would be appreciated.

I'm afraid not. One thing to consider though. To replace the shoes the shaft has to come out of the back of the transmission. I never did that for fear of getting a nick on the seal for the drive shaft. If I didn't always have someone with me to chuck the tires I would have done it, but my experience with automatic transmissions that leak has not been so good.
