@@yaboycai9578 thanks for the video brother. Do u happen to remember all the socket sizes needed? I hear u say 13 for the alternator. But do u remember what the side was for the air box? The first 4 bolts u already had off. ?
Very good instructions. Didn't think I could do until I seen this vedio. He made it look easy. I may try to change my daughter's now.

Take-Aways from my experience doing this. The tensioner has a square hole in the casting around the middle, it is hard to see between the motor mount and the tensioner itself. It has a pretty narrow angle of view but it is possible to spot it. You will use the bare stub of a 3/8" socket wrench to put into this square hole to gain leverage on the tensioner assembly. Just google an image of the tensioner to see what you are looking for. Taking apart the air filter box on my 2012 Equinox had rounded head star screws, his shows flat head hex screws, just expect some possible variations. The hardest part I had wasn't shown in the video, probably for good reason. The electrical connections are an absolute pain, the plug style connection on the alternator isn't as bad using a small flathead to raise the retainer clip over the keeper piece, you can push it out without too much trouble. The larger bolted on cable is located under the alternator and between the engine. The cable has almost no extra length to it (on mine) to allow you to maneuver the alternator to gain access to the nut. I ended up throwing a jack under the car and tilting the alternator enough that I could get my socket on it from the underside. You are working on an alternator that isn't held down at this point and in a tight space, so if you have someone up top to hold it still you might save some frustration. When you fasten the cable back down on the new unit, the cable needs to be somewhat inline with the alternator, if it is sticking straight out you will run into clearance issues when trying to bolt everything back up. I ended up having the belt come off the lower pully when I was trying to get the belt back on. If this happens, turn your wheels to the left as far as you can. Probably a good idea to just do this before you start taking stuff apart. You can put your key in and turn it to the accessory position to free the steering lock if you didn't do this ahead. This will free up some space on the back side of your passenger side front tire, giving access to the belt and lower pully. Again having another person up top to provide light tension on the belt could save you some fiddly issues trying to keep the belt where you intended. All in all this video helped me realize this is a very doable project for a day off at home. I can imagine this would have been hundreds of dollars more in labor expense if I had taken it to the dealership.

You are right about the cost, I'm looking this up to fix my friends' Equinox. She was quoted over $800. That sounded rediculous to me as I used to change alternators regularly back in the day. I forgot that they build these things hard to work on. I want to thank you and the creator of this video. I will be taking this on later today/tomorrow.

@squidamazing464 yes, I had my son with me so he could learn. It was not fun, but I was able to get the alternator to come up near the radiator. I had my son help with re-aligning the bolts to put the new one in.
Thank you. This makes this job seem simple. Awesome video.

I am trying to figure out the part @2:02 what wrench are we using to adjust the belt i tried it idk if i’m using the right one or i need an extended wrench arm because the one i’m using may be too short… thank you in advance

If it too short us a breaker bar instead with 1/2 or 3/8 head I believe
What size do you use for the tensioner? I had a 3/8 inch it wouldn’t fit due to the location of the attention. I didn’t went to AutoZone and got a half inch driver that was to big I’m lost here and Ned help.

Wait a minute this isn't a Chevy equinox 3.0 liter engine this is the bullshit 2.4
I would say that you did a good video, but I was very disappointed because you did not show how you removed the electrical connection from the alternator. you did not give a good description on the sizes of the nuts, I bet you had a hard time removing the electrical terminal from the alternation?. you skipped the hardest part. Please do not make any more videos if you are not sure of what you are doing,
