Chevy Cruze with faulty gas gauge. Access the sender without dropping the tank.

I'm having issues with my gas gauge. As in my gas gauge does not work. I want to access the sending unit but I do not want to drop the tank or remove the exhaust.
Let's try this hack to access the sender/ fuel pump.

I have done the same thing in the past going through the back seat.... now you have to determine if the gas gauge is bad what you need to do is ground the gauge if it goes the full the gauge is good if it doesn't it's a bad gauge.....I'm sure you checked all the fuses, and I mean all of them......Good Luck.I know electrical stuff could be very frustrating...............

Great video PSG - you're brave doing it that way but it was much quicker for sure - good guess at where is was too. My best guess is a bad fuse, ground, float or the gauge itself but I doubt its the gauge. Google: "Reset Fuel Gauge on Chevy Cruze" too. Curious as to what it is. Do another video when you figure it out my friend 🎄❄🎄

I am 100% doing this! I have an eco model that sits lower from the factory and the whole bottom of the car and under the front of the fuel tank is covered with panels. So much stuff to take off before i can even start dropping the tank. Why cant gm design cars like honda and hyundai where there is an acess panel under the back seat? Answer: dealerships make a killing on parts and labor......

Just make sure your cut is very shallow. Millimeters. The fuel lines are just underneath. Disconnect your battery and take your time. Verry shallow cuts !

Hello so I just had the P0181 code pop up. Fuel Temperture Sensor and now my fuel gauge doesn't want to go down and my temperture needle doesnt go up unless im on the road. Any suggestions? It's a 2012 cruze

I have not had that issue yet. I did a bit of reading. Alot of cars have the fuel temp sensor as part of the sending unit. Not 100 percent sure on the Cruze. Might make sense if it's affecting the gas gauge. I will search again. If I come across anything I will let you know.

so you cut the metal just above your gas tank? I wish you had drained the fuel out. Otherwise, it is really dangerous for causing a fire (explosion).

Chevy Cruze 2012 a year ago My fuel gauge was from half a tank to full so I decided to change the sending unit the one you're mentioning , after changing it it only went from 1/4 to full what could be wrong with unit any suggestions anyone ?

Thats a new one for me. I changed the sending unit and the gauge still didnt work. Later I found a rats nest under the battery tray and some chewed wires and bingo the gauge came back. Fuses, grounds, tight connections ? In the rear passenger wheel well if you pull the plastic back there is a large connector plug
