When Chet was a kid, another kid threw a rock at him, and he lost a front tooth. He never fixed it yet played without it. The incident where he lost all his teeth happened much later. Hence, he wore dentures. Here, he is missing that one tooth, obviously. Just love Chet Baker ❤

Amazing! Chet was on fire! Everyone else is playing the chords but Chet plays pure melody. Absolutely inspirational. I've never met a trumpet player who didn't wish they could play melodic solo like this.

Really digging Mr Glauco Masetti on alto sax. I believe he's on a few other Baker recordings from Italy and I really like his tone and articulation. Some of the lines are also fantastic while admittedly being very much in the mainstream bebop bag.

Those lip bends he did are unmistakable when you hear them. Most jazz players half-valve everything, but he was bending notes with his lips. 18:57 You hear this a lot in "Summertime" and "There's a Small Hotel."
