******** UPDATE 10/15/23 ***********
I just released a minimalist redesign of my original system, including a complete kit in a box, or DIY versions:

Part 1 of a video series showing my process of converting my chest freezer cold plunge from using two Marineland aquarium filters, to using a single whole-house filter.
My goal in this is to simplify my operation (cleaning one filter / pump instead of two), while increasing the filtration efficiency, circulation, and ozone mixing. My current water fill is about 11 months old and crystal clear, so using Marineland filters, with proper sanitation practices is totally viable.
I'm making this video because I see a lot of DIY filtration setups which have the flow rate and filtration crippled by the plumbing choices.

Thanks for all your awesome work. I’ve looked but can’t seem to find what you used to open up and any suggestions dos/donts you have to mod the filter head? Thanks in advance,

I did most of the work with a carbide Burr on a pneumatic die grinder. I really should have repeated the test with the filter element installed. The restriction it provides may very well negate most of the gains from porting the head.

@@APEX.86 That makes sense. I honestly didn’t notice if the filter was in or out. IMO if you conducted all three tests without it out then that’s accurate enough for me, personally. I will definitely be boring it out either way. It just makes sense to me. The flow video speaks for itself. I’m in! Thanks again for all your work. It’s a great help.
