Finally someone that not only builds the becket but shows the damn book they learned it from. I have wanted to build a sea chest with that style becket forever and just couldnt come up with a good reference book the learn the braiding. So thank you

Where do you buy your blonde de-waxed shellac flakes from?

Was that just more hemp twine you used for the puddening or some other kind of yarn?

Any type of natural fiber twine will do.

Hi Thanks for the video. How do you know how long to cut the cord for the crown sennit between the eye and the coachwhipping.

You´ll know exactly only by trying but approx 6 times the length of crowning.

That would be a 8 strand coachwhipping.

Is that preservative you used some kind of closely guarded family secret or can you share?

Of course. It is a traditional way for sealing. Just 1/3 dewaxed shellac diluted in ethanol.

A chest becket is a handle in sailors chest. It is the most iconic piece of sailors ropework.

Beautiful work indeed. However, unable to enjoy the video, due in part to the speed of video, caused some nausea, hyper sensitive to quick movement. Secondly, wasn’t able to take in and enjoy the process ! Again, beautiful work !
