If you're not atleast an expert player, never play these openings : Ruy Lopez, Italian, Sicilian (except Kan), Queen's Gambit Accepted, Catalan, English (play it only by beginning with Nf3) Don't ask why just don't play them, but if you really want an in depth why watch GothamChess video "Don't play these chess openings"
