For those wondering at the end, if he blocks with the Rook, the file is still undefended, so he will get checked by the Black Queen, so same result. Moving the King to block the diagonal the Rook defends or using the Rook to block the check leads to a similar outcome. Now on to the topic of surviving the attack, you have to block with the Queen and take with the King after the black rook takes back

It's white's turn at that point, and the bishop wasn't there to protect the queen from the king before then. If somehow white didn't do anything to stop it though, then yep, that would be checkmate. Good catch.
