Actually, the purpose of the d pawn wasn't to attack the pyramid, Black is just following the king's indian opening, the d pawn gets rid of any center pawn that attacks the knight (and moving a pawn in the side you castled can actually benefit you, because incase a backrank check happen, you can escape and you won't get mated)

Also tip: when you get to promote 2 pawns in an endgame, try to make 2 rooks instead of queens cause there's no risk of accidentally drawing. Learn how to do the "ladder checkmate" it's very easy.

This is a great way to teach chess, I was predicting the game instinctively because of the situation
