Carry your nerdiness with pride girls - or else we the champions of nerds will spit you out of our mouths due to your lack of worthiness. That would be sad because you both have the necessary awkwardness to be allowed into the realm of nerds. Also, remember that women are dumber than men. Yes, we've got a mountain of evidence for this. Your brains are smaller than ours. This doesn't mean you cannot be smarter than a lot of guys, but it is extremely unlikely a woman will be smarter than all men. It isn't completely impossible but the numbers are certainly not in your favor. As for you two in particular, you are smart enough to be nerds, but not geniuses. Try to be happy about what you are and adapt your life around it. When it comes to intelligence, this is something we've yet to learn how to improve. Yes, I'm truly a male chauvinist, but this is not relevant in this context. Find yourself a smarter man each. This is the only way you will find happiness. A family can only have one boss and this will be the man. Pretty hard to swallow in these femi-radical, woke crazy times, but these are the facts. If you don't respect them, don't complain about being miserable.

I love hearing behind-the-scenes stories, even if they aren't juicy! I enjoy the psychological competition that goes on off the board as much as the one on it, so I'm curious - outside of the tournament room, do chess players play mind games on each other to try to psych out their upcoming opponents? If so, have either of you ever tried to mentally destabilize an opponent before a match, and how?

A lot of chess players have already talked about that times and times again, so it was a good call to skip that. Basically, it is a male dominated player base. Also, for unknown reasons there are gender separated tournaments and the female ones tend to have lower skill threshold, which makes people look down on female players by default. There might be videos explaining it better than me, but that's about it.

But for some very strange reason, the three chess ladies, Andrea, Alex, and Anna, get most of the online attention and money for their given skill level. And even though they aren't top-tier chess players, they get invited to poker tournaments, chess boxing, etc... So in terms of online money, women mysteriously dominate 🤔

GothamChess is the biggest chess streamer, despite not being a GM, and the Botez sisters have done quite well, too. Super high level players like Magnus and Hikaru can generate viewers through sheer skill alone, but once you get below the top level, it's more about stream-lined, reliable, and engaging content. that's right, i got the same answer. i will explain how i came into that if someone comes across my comment later: that's the only answer because as queen shouldn't be next to jack and ace, she should be placed at the edges, and her only possible “neighbour” is king. so we might have “queen - king - x - x” or “x - x - king - queen”, and we decide between these two taking in that king can't be next to ace and jack isn't in spot 3, so neither “queen - king - ace - jack” and “queen - king - jack - ace” are valid, remaining “ace - jack - king - queen” as the answer

I actually would love another video on women in chess. I think as a man (not just in chess, but in general) it is important for me to seek out marginalized perspectives so I can analyze my own behaviour and see if how I act is actually lining up with my values. That being said there's absolutely no pressure on y'all to make that video. You've done more than enough work to break down stereotypes and educate others than is required, and for that I'm very appreciative.

I would actually love a video on the disparity between women and men in chess :) it is interesting that fide has a woman gm title separate from the gm title. (This is honest in not trying to bait, even though some people may see it that way)

The GM title is applied to men and women. There are women who have the GM title. But FIDE has titles that apply only to women like the WGM. The GM title is awarded to 2500 elo (men and women) whereas the WGM is awarded to 2300 elo (obviously only women)

There are women who have the GM title. On top of that FIDE has titles that awarded only to women like the Women GM which is easier to obtain than the GM title. But still there are women with the GM title

@@johannhurst5734 Yes, but I think the WGM women’s only titles would be based on the understanding that women need it. I think that it isn’t needed anymore. It should be the same for men and women.

Women have, on average, been far more incentivized to play chess than men of comparable skill levels. Special scholarships, special strata and awards within tournaments, an entire tournament system devoted to their lesser skills, de facto announcing spots reserved for them, special prizes... Take Russia, as just one example. Women have been incentivized and rewarded there since the 1920s for playing chess far beyond any relation to their skills, solely because of their gender. That's true as well for every Western nation, albeit not to the extent Russia and other SS republics have done so.
