    You dudes who nitpick at this fabulous woman chess player fit the stereotype of chess nerds. Lighten up. She's great. World class chess is a great spectacle. There's too much to enjoy about it without looking to complain about trivialities.

    I’m so happy she speaks English because so much more of the world can learn from her than just Mandarin speakers. I love her so much and she’s such an inspiration to me. She’s my favorite player period. I love how aggressive and creative she is as well as being extremely intelligent.

    She became a gm in 2009 at the age of only 14 years. She dominated women chess, while simultaneously scoring really well in her academics and getting into the best college in china in 2012, while also hitting the 2600 rating. Imagine becoming the women world champion while preparing to write exams. She then went to do masters in Oxford under the Rhodes scholarship. Man I imagine how things would have looked if yifan had fully concentrated on chess but ig somethings are best left unanswered 😌.

    Hou is my new muse for my own play at this wonderful game. Love watching her matches. You never know how she will respond to an attack and if you are not careful the attack is reversed. Such a skilful player!

    I wish chess would not use the category of men and women and men competing women and just refer to individual as chess players. That would be much an healthier way to talk chess.

    Makes sense. There aren't a lot of women at her level, so I imagine it would be an inspiration for women chess fans. And some guys are afraid of losing to a girl. It is what it is. Men are inspired by Magnus, but I don't think there are enough women to care to be afraid of playing him.

    Let's not forget her childish tantrum by throwing a game in 5 moves because she was upset at the pairings. She complained mostly about being paired with women YET she only finished 48th out of 150 and Ju Wenjun (a woman) kicked her ass with a nice queen move in rd. 8.

  • @jilow

    @jilow

    If they really did stack the pairing so that women would face mostly women, or hoping to get her to the finals by giving her an easy road. Whatever their intention was, if they stacked it at all, it's an insult to women's chess. If she's going to an open tournament it should just all be random.

  • @TheClassicWorld

    @TheClassicWorld

    7 жыл бұрын

    I hear they stack it a lot, well, at least that's how it turns out, like, the top players mostly have white, and the lesser players end up with black. 'Man, the truth hurts.' - Ben Finegold. I agree. If they forced her to play with only women to make it easier, that's not the equality she wants. But, I don't know enough about this to truly know all actions of both sides and their reasonings (and I assume you don't know enough, either, but maybe you do).

  • @GalacticLobster

    What the hell are you guys on about. The pairings are made by a computer software. It's a coincidence that she ended up being paired against 8 women.

    I, for one, did not know that, thus, I assume I take back most of my comments. However, get new software, then? Bad coincidences shouldn't be allowed to happen, no?
