Sometimes they play where each move adds a few seconds. With that if you move quick enough you can build some time back up. Makes it interesting since someone can blitz a few moves then take a moment to think.

Against mom, he made an illegal move when she had 5 seconds, and pushed the clock. That loses the game. Knocked over pawns, didn't put them back before pushing the clock. Illegal. He also moved his rook, pushed the clock, then put the rook on a different square. Lots of illegal stuff that would lose the game in a real blitz tournament. Then he claims a win on time in a totally lost position after running her clock with illegal stuff.

I grew up in those parks , its usually wholesome honestly. The term "hustler" in chess isn't the same as in other areas of life. Just means you play for money, 5 10 bucks, its not a mean place at all. Having new great players is always fun. Especially on the rare times its females and a mom and daughter grand Master duo, come on, so awesome! I'd take my loss to have the honor to play all three of these folks!

I wish we had chess parks in the UK! Hobbies, apart from shopping are practically outlawed these days. They would tax these people and charge for parking and entrance.

People are like Pokémon in real life at the Nintendo New York building. I hope she goes there since she’s already in New York, but people are usually playing Pokémon or Smash Bros there, not chess lol

I love that with all these games the dudes are always displaying a nervous tick whether it's tapping their hands, rubbing their chins, shaking their knees up and down, playing with their pieces, smoking constantly etc. Too funny that they show their stress all the while Anna is always cool as a cucumber. 😁
