Cherry Pink & Apple Blossom White (Perez Prado) cover by AMS Band

Ойын-сауық

AMS Band is a father/daughter band named after it’s main star - Annamarie Munoz Sapalicio. AMS Band has been performing together for a decade, hired for events such as birthday parties, weddings, funerals, and fundraisers. Annamarie Sapalicio is the main star of the band. She is the lead vocal of the band. She also plays the flute, alto saxophone, clarinet, guitar, and piano. She’s been playing the piano for 14 years, the flute for 13 years, clarinet for 12 years, the alto saxophone for 10 years, and the guitar for 3 years. She participated in her high school’s jazz band as their baritone saxophone player, and the band was able to win many awards and competitions. In addition to these instruments, she started singing at a young age with her parents in their church choir, the 7PM Spirit Ensemble at Saint Joseph’s Basilica located in Alameda, California. Alan Sapalicio is the father of Annamarie. In the band he plays mainly the piano but will occasionally play the drums. He grew up watching his siblings learn from their mother, who was a piano teacher. Although he never participated in lessons himself, he learned simply by watching and listening. Alan had learned how to play the drums in recent years in order to round out the sound of the band whenever it is just him and his daughter performing. Alan is also the keyboardist for the 7PM Spirit Ensemble. Amado Tuazon is an occasional drummer for the band. He drums for the 7PM Spirit Ensemble, which is where he met Annamarie and Alan. In addition to being a drummer for many bands located in the San Francisco Bay Area, he’s had the honor to work with Tower of Power’s former lead vocalist Rick Stevens. Amado does an excellent job of hyping up the audience while maintaining a solid beat for the band to follow. AMS Band has a multitude of songs underneath their repertoire, with well over a hundred songs uploaded on their KZread page being just a fraction of what they can play. The songs they play cover a wide amount of genres, ranging from old traditional songs to modern music, with examples such as jazz, bossa nova, latin, ballads, and pop.

"Cherry Pink (and Apple Blossom White)" or "Cerezo Rosa" or "Ciliegi Rosa" or "Gummy Mambo", is the English version of "Cerisiers Roses et Pommiers Blancs", a popular song with music by Louiguy written in 1950. French lyrics to the song by Jacques Larue and English lyrics by Mack David both exist and recordings of both have been quite popular. However, Perez Prado's recording of the song as an instrumental with his orchestra featuring trumpeter Billy Regis, whose trumpet sound would slide down and up before the melody would resume, was the most popular version in 1955, reaching number one for 10 weeks on the Billboard chart.
