7.) Chemical Services
(40 minutes, 26 points)
The next section is “Chemical Application Preparation ONLY for Virgin
Color, High Lift Color Retouch, and No Base Virgin Relaxer.” you will have
10 minutes to complete this section. You will also take out the supplies that
you need for the Virgin Color, High Lift Color Retouch, and No Base Virgin
Relaxer sections of the examination. Please place those zip lock bags on
top of your workstation to be evaluated by your Rater. You will be informed
when you have 5 minutes remaining. This section is for preparation ONLY.
Do NOT begin the Virgin Color, High Lift Color Retouch, and No Base
Virgin Relaxer services during this section.
Chemical Services 10 MIN BAG EVALUATION and SERVICE SETUP:
1.) Unzip kit and locate the Chemical Service Bag.
2.) Then place the service bag on the workstation.
3.) Zip the kit back up 100%.
*There is no bag check for this service, just begin
your service set up.
4.) Open the Bag and Empty the Contents on the
station laying them out neatly.
5.) Drape Doll (towel, cape, towel) This draping will stay for all 3 chemicals.
6.) Section hair into 4 quadrants and clip into place.
7.) Apply protective cream to the entire hairline, then discard in the trash.
8.) Put on gloves. (these will be the gloves you wear for all 3 chemicals)
9.) Wait for service to begin.
The next section is “Virgin Color” on the Right Rear Quadrant, you will have
10 minutes to complete this section. You will be informed when you have 5
minutes remaining.
Chemical Service #1- Virgin Color (on right rear quadrant)
1.) Locate chemical brush and the container marked for Mock Color. (dip this directly into the
container)
2.) Using a horizontal line starting at the center top of the right rear quadrant, take 1/4 inch
subsections and apply the product 1⁄2 inch from the scalp and 1 inch off the ends.
3.) Be sure to saturate your sections evenly.
4.) Remove any excess product off the doll's skin and ears.
5.) When you are finished applying your product to the entire section, then place the chemical
brush in the trash. Put the lid back on the Mock Color Container and place it in the trash bag.
6.) Maintain the draping on the doll, and leave your gloves on. Wait for further directions.
The next section is “High Lift Color Retouch on Left Rear Quadrant” you will
have 10 minutes to complete this section. Please assume there is 2 inches
of new growth. You will be informed when you have 5 minutes remaining.
Chemical Service #2- High Lift Color Retouch (left rear quadrant)
1.) Locate a new color brush and the container marked Mock HighLift.
2.) Using a horizontal line starting at the center top of the left rear quadrant, take 1/8 inch
subsections and apply the product to 2 inches of regrowth.
3.) Be sure to saturate your sections evenly.
4.) Be sure to remove any excess product off the doll's skin and ears.
5.) When you are finished applying your product to the entire section, then place the chemical
brush in the trash. Put the lid back on the Mock HighLift Container and place it in the trash bag.
6.) Maintain the draping on the doll, and leave your gloves on. Wait for further directions.
The next section is “No-Base Virgin Relaxer” on the Left Front Quadrant
you will have 10 minutes to complete this section. You will be informed
when you have 5 minutes remaining.
Chemical Service #3- No-Base Virgin Relaxer (left front quadrant)
1.) Locate new chemical brush and the container marked Mock No Base Relaxer.
2.) Using a horizontal line, following the part, starting at the center top of the left front quadrant,
take 1/2 inch subsections and apply the product 1/2 inch AWAY from the scalp and 1 inch OFF
the ends.
3.) Be sure to saturate your sections evenly.
4.) Be sure to remove any excess product off the doll's skin and ears.
5.) When you have completely saturated the entire section, go back to the first subsection and
manipulate the hair with the back of your comb, fingers or color brush. (Smooth the product over
the hair strands going with the cuticle)
6.) When you are finished applying your product, then put the lid back on the Mock No-Base Relaxer Container then place the used brush and the closed container in your trash bag.
7.) Remove the draping from the doll, remove your gloves, and any other supplies that came out
of the Chemicals Setup products Bags and place them in the trash.
8.) Wait for further directions.

    question? for part two of the no-base relaxer, am I manipulating by pulling the product to the ends?

    For the virgin color application, the PSI worksheet says from root to ends but the book and this video says 1/2 inch to 1 inch from ends? Any advice on what to go off of?
