Actually people ( mostly Emma Hayes and her staff, not me particularly) need to be a lot harder on Lauren James. Even when she's on fire, she takes too many casual potshots from 30 yards when there's a better option. It's true that she can occasionally pull off the brilliant, but she's so consistently selfish and blind to the runs of her teammates, it will be hard for them to justify continually making the runs when they know she's just going to balloon it over the bar from 35 yards out. She's brilliant and amazing but would be so much more effective if she could learn to work with teammates.

James is just inconsistent..can score 5 goals in a game but the next game when we really need a goal she's nowhere to be seen

The trend I’ve seen in Women’s football, and this is international, that due to the lack of quality (and taller) goalkeepers, long distance shots are far too frequent. Instead of trying to develop play to stretch out defenders the players let loose on shots that have no chance of going in. Even the commentator was mentioning “the number of shots from distance!”

Well, you know what they say: "keep giving it a go and one will fly in eventually", especially in the WSL and especially from James. I would also like to point out that 3 of those Chelsea long distance crosses lead to 3 goals.

This is their first match after Kerr tore her ACL. Millie bright is out as well, so they’ve lost some leadership on the back line.

Chelsea Women could be in big trouble. No Bright, no Kerr, with her leaving at the end of the Season, now would be the perfect time to find a replacement. Fishel is a great little Player and she will score goals, but she is no Kerr. I would say the CL is no longer, which is a shame for Emma Hayes, what a send off that would have been for her, to win that. Chelsea struggled for most of this game to find the gaols and there will be tougher tests than this one. They are going to have to find a solution and fast!
