Yes new wembly finals were a bit bland mind you 2012 final and 2009 final was ok

Chelsea v liverpool was something of a different sort of rivalry. We would win the league games but you allways got us 1 better in Europe or Cup games. Good and bad memories. Joe Coles chance at the end I seriously thought that was it! Just wasn't our day that day.

No for two reasons: 1) I can’t do champions league matches from 2004 onwards because of copyright And 2) I still can’t forgive ITV for they had done to my old channel back three years ago.

How awful he was? His a cult hero for the club and also a top bloke that done good things off pitch in local community helping other footballers with same ACL injury that he was dealing with.

@@meanbean1407 His job in this game coming on a sub was to stretch the pitch and make runs in behind. He explicitly failed to do this as he was repeatedly getting caught offside to the visible annoyance of Benitez who sold him a couple of months later. I make no comment or judgement of the man himself but the bare facts are that he was a £14.5m signing (massive fee for us in those days) who scored at a rate of worse than 1 in 3 and actively didn't suit any set up Benitez could use. It's not like he was flying before he broke his leg against Blackburn either. He's leagues below players like Heskey (who the Kop hated by the end sadly), Kuyt and Benayoun in terms of contribution to the club.

Luis Garcia was dreadful, how this team won the champions league is testament to how good Stevie G was and Not to forget Alonso too

Garcia was very inconsistent but also scored a lot of very important goals across two and a half seasons. I don't think we ever found a proper position for him (he played all across the midfield and even up front), but Rafa liked having him in the team because he could score a goal from nothing. Ironically, his squad replacement was Dirk Kuyt who served us much more consistently in the following years.

@@jackrichardson4089 @aidos socratis apart from the occasional wonder goal (and there were many) Luis Garcia struggled to make and impact on finals or big occasions.. 2005 UCL final for example.. he was so erratic.
