Brentford had a 27 mill offer rejected in the summer and only 18 months ago mudryk was available for 1 mill. Im not too fussed about mudryk as I don’t think we shud be paying 85 mill for a unproven player that has potential!

They need to make smart signings in areas they need to improve. This signing fulfils neither of those parameters. It doesn’t even weaken Arsenal nor does it necessarily strengthen Chelsea, he could flop and you’re out €100m either way. To justify this move by saying it’s for spite and to hurt a rival is just stupid. You lot have bigger problems than Arsenal who are half the table ahead of you.

Arsenal fan here, I said it at the beginning of the window, if we can get him for less that 60 mil without add-ons I'd like Edu to sign him. But anything above 60 mil is a red flag and we should walk away and spend less on someone like Vlahovic. If anything, if we're to spend 100 mil, I'd rather the board go all in and spend everything we got on Kvarashkelia. Dude is the main reason why Mudryk has a pricetag of 100mil

Agreed! At least you’re not being biased that’s appreciated coming from an Arsenal fan who have subscribed to your channel awhile now. The transfer approach is very weird and it should be a cause for concern. Man City wanted Cucurella and made a bid in the 40mil range then strolled Chelsea and offer 60+ mil, now look at the player. When will they realize buying players just because does not mean they will fit in the system your coach wants to play.

This is a Robinho deal. Robinho wanted to sign for Chelsea. On the 11th hour a Manchester club made a crazy deal with the player and he signed for City. But he eventually was a massive flop. Robinho later admitted that he thought that there was only one club in Manchester. He just followed the money. Mudryk may be an amazing player. But as we've seen with other young Chelsea players that need time to adapt to the league. The price tag weights heavily on the player and expectations. Yesterday he was one of the best players in Ukraine, could lose the ball, miss shots, make poor passes, no one cared...they only looked at the bottom line that he was scoring and creating chances. Today at Chelsea, the spotlight is bright...now it's 100m Mudryk makes a poor pass, a bad miss or he should be doing for that kind of money. Havertz is the perfect example. A prodigy in Germany, but for Chelsea, the spotlight is so much brighter on him rather than Mason Mount, as mount was not brought in for 62m and he's English. We should be looking for the next Luis Dias, or Mo Salah. Or Sadio Mane kind of signing, a player for a decent amount of money who doesn't yet have a big heat. Player Power? Can't wait to see how Potter is going to manage Nkunku, Mudryk and which every other mercenaries we are going to get after playing over the odd. This is not a Mourinho or a Pep, a guy that commands respect, this is a ginger nice guy. It won't work or will only work when the players decide it will work.

As an Arsenal fan I can’t help but think Chelsea’s Transfer policy is look at who we want and try to sign them, we wanted Raphina he was moments from signing for us, Chelsea put an offer in and delay it then he signs for Barca now we want mudrik a player who I doubt has ever been on Chelsea’s radar which could delay the deal because of the absurd amount of money they are willing to pay, even though it’s clear as day he wants to sign for Arsenal, the amount of time he’s shown/mentioned he wants to sign I wouldn’t be surprised if he was a huge die hard fan growing up, the reason it’s not working at Chelsea probably has something to do with the fact you seem to target players that other teams have identified would work in there system so getting players that would work in other teams systems might sound great but there is no guarantee that they would work in your system especially if they don’t want to be there in the first place, a player might lose interest in playing for teams then they get moved on but signing players who never wanted to be there in the first place is completely lunacy and would never end well

@@gmizsal5177 great point but I think this can be achieved by setting up a good scouting network and not polluting the market by out bidding rivals just bcos the money is available. It brings about an inflationary cycle that will be problematic in the future. Not holding a grudge though as such is life but just saying

@@gantswood I rate enzo as the best young midfielder itw I’ve kept close tabs on him since he was linked with united some of his games for benfica are out of this world I think he once has a game where he went a whole game without misplacing a pass and created 6 or 7 key chances with 6/6 long balls he’s worth that much imo I also rate caciedo really highly

Fair play I was annoyed at first , but it is what it is. Rory enjoy him he'll improve you're team. But I get what you are saying about mercenaries in modern football. The points you make regarding the transfer policy at Chelsea are also spot on. A long term strategy needs to be put in place with regards to player profile age sell on value etc.

Chelsea's transfer policy is to see whatever other clubs are doing and then offer the selling club more money, therefore putting the player in a difficult position. Mudryk wanted Arsenal but Chelsea offered Shaktar more money and they took it, which I don't blame them for to be honest but now, you've got another player on high wages who really doesn't want to be there.

Totally agree Rory, I’m an Arsenal fan and I was uncomfortable with the deal. The player stats vs Shaktar’s valuation just don’t add up at all. He may well turn out to be a great player, but its about as riskier a deal as there is in the market, for a player that has only played circa 3200 minutes in a league ranked 16th by UEFA!!!

I’m sure the whole Roman/Russian history of Chelsea won’t make Mudryk want to go there as well…

Seems like Shaktar have played Arsenal and Chelsea (and Mudryk) like a fiddle here. They literally went to Chelsea not long ago trying to get them into a bidding war and bump up the price, even basically announced the deal on their socials when it wasn't (isn't) even done yet...what kind of club does that? Good player I'm sure, but €100m is utterly ridiculous. Not one sensible person thought they would get anywhere remotely near that amount when all of this started and word was out that they were looking for that much. Total madness.

The worst case scenario not to be too dramatic is a Barca situation where Boehly puts Chelsea into loads of debt by spending loads of money. The best case scenario for Chelsea fans is he hires a DoF and gets the hell out of the hot seat

Watching Chelsea do this is giving me PTSD. We still do this, yes. But this is a bad strategy with no set target in mind. Chelsea never won trophies using this strategy. Their splashes on the market when they were winning had some sort of calculation in mind. This is actually scary. Turning into Man Utd the overspending laughing stock is not that hard. That's something other clubs don't seem to realize. Good on Arsenal for not paying that obscene price. Shame on Shakhtar. They're a disgrace. I don't like Liverpool but I was sickened when they frustrated a Liverpool deal for Alex Teixeira and sent him to China, instead. They also sold Willian to Anzhi Makhachkala when he wanted to play for a bigger European side because they bid higher. Shakhtar have always been greedy focks but have not been exposed like this since they mainly had Chinese and Russian patrons to sell to. Now, money has dried up there, so their new customer is the highest bidders in the EPL. They're absolutely evil if you ask me.
