Peak Chelsea was 04 - 09. 2010 was the beginning of the end for those group of players which was why I said they were approaching the end of their prime when they won the title in 2010 which also happen to be the last league title won by that 04/05 group of players. By 2012, majority of that 04/05 set has left Chelsea. Those that were still at the club like Lampard, Drogba, Terry, Cech etc were already on their last burner which was indicative of their poor league position (they came 6th in the league that season). However, they gave their all in cup competitions especially in the ucl which they won eventually. By lifting the fa cup and ucl in 2012, the curtain was finally drawn on those magnificent 04/05 set of legends

We didn't only win the league but in the last match that we needed a win more than ever with Man U chasing us with just 2 points behind, we score 8 goals, with a Drogba hattrick stamp our name on the trophy so that Man U had no chance to win it.

Drogba played 32 games and had 29 goals and 10 assists.. If he hadn't gone for AFCON then who know what his tally would be. I'm guessing at least 32 goals!! What a player and what a season 💙

Rooney also had an unbelievable season as well. I think he even won the Barclays player of the season

malouda was so underrated. strong, could dribble, score, assist, a shame how his career at Chelsea ended.

Loved the 2009/2010 team. Anelka was majestic, in fact every single part of the club was perfect. NOT one player let us down. RIP Ray (Butch Wilkins). Thank you Mr. A. Love you so much. You will always be a Chelsea legend (possibly the biggest legend).

Drogba was insane not just with the goals but the team play and amount of penalties he wow. It’s also nice to hear commentary in Chelsea’s favour, probably Chelsea TV though

I remember the media used to call Chelsea team of 09/10 unchanged as our tean was same for last couple of years, only problem we had is if anyone got injured we had nobody to replace them especially in midfield

Although it was painful to see my team United lose the title, that Chelsea side was so special they really entertained especially in those high scoring matches

Whenever we talk about great Premier League teams we always say Man Utd 06-08, Man City 17-18, Arsenal Invincibles, etc. But rarely does anyone speak about this Chelsea 09/10 side. For me the most entertaining team the league has ever seen.

???? It's the worst Premier league winning Chelsea team. 2005 95pts 2017 93pts 2006 91pts 2015 87pts 2010 86pts Also unlike all the others they were nowhere near the best team the season they won it. They just got loads of decisions that made the difference and struggled to even get top4 the following year.

@@cddb5408 you're mad if you're going to diminish this team by it's total points tally. Still holds the record for most home wins by a 3+ goal margin in premier league history. No team has scored 7 goals more than Chelsea did that year. Struggled to finish fourth? They finished 9 points off the top after closing down an 18 point gap in January (had David Luiz not slipped Chelsea would've won the league that year). You can't honestly say this team was bad because of 86 points. That's like saying the treble winning Manchester United team was awful because they had less than 80 points. The premier league was highly competitive back then unlike now so to say 86 points makes them the worst without any context is painfully naive

@@JayTechZM So???? ManUtd had a better AWAY record that season. It's harder to win away you get worse decisions. And I just find it funny how despite all the goals Chelsea brag about that season they finished on same amount of wins as ManUtd overall (27) thanks to cheating against ManUtd home&away but still Chelsea were the team with more wins by only 1 goal than ManUtd and ManUtd had 1 more win by 2 goals or more until the penultimate week where ManUtd won 0-1 vs Sunderland and Liverpool gave Chelsea a 0-2 with Gerrard deliberate backpass to Drogba at 0-0 because it was the first year ManUtd could go above Liverpool on league title wins. Pity Liverpool fought and won at all costs when ManUtd had to go to Anfield that season. So Chelsea & ManUtd still finished the season with the same amount of wins by just 1 goal (8) but Chelsea's 1 goal wins were more dodgy on the whole than ManUtd's. Chelsea & ManUtd finished with same amount of wins by 2 or more goals (19) but ManUtd had more away. Chelsea & ManUtd finished with same amount of wins by 3 or goals (13) but ManUtd had more away. Chelsea only had 1 more win by 4 or more than ManUtd but ManUtd had 1 more win by 4 or more away that Chelsea. And Chelsea & ManUtd had same number of away wins by 5 or more goals (1 each....ManUtd vs 16th Wigan and Chelsea vs rock bottom Portsmouth). Not to mention Chelsea & ManUtd both won their last 3 games of the season but Chelsea got 10 GD more based on the refs just giving them 2 emphatic scorelines with so many bad decisions & scoring vs numerical disadvantaged teams and goals where they were allowed fouls in the build up not punished etc...just to disguise them as worthy winners trying to give them fake final GD to try to overshadow the controversy of the manner they only won the title because had to cheat home & away vs ManUtd. I wasn't fooled. Chelsea even had their buddy Martin Atkinson for the final game he's always in their important games making sure they win. 5 semi finals, a quarter final replay, top2 head-to-heads etc... 2010/11 Chelsea were nowhere near winning the title plus you mention DirtyLuiz slipping in a game that ManUtd battered Chelsea who got a 2-1 defeat which was so flattering for Chelsea and ManUtd should've had a pen at already 2-0 up Webb again favoured Chelsea like he did in at least 4 OldTrafford PL games Chelsea played vs ManUtd. But DirtyLuiz shouldn't have played in the March 1st game vs ManUtd where Chelsea were given every decision it took to turn a must win game from 0-1 into 2-1 and Vidic red card before fulltime ruling him out of Anfield defeat next game. My Grandad who tended to sound quite prejudice against ManUtd even said ManUtd were robbed in that March 1st game by Martin Atkinson yet again (who gave Chelsea a win previous season which ManUtd dominated and would've easily won 0-2 MINIMUM with fair decisions) it was completely obviously fixed, only an overly bias Chelsea fan would try to not admit it. Dirty Luiz should've been sent off but wasn't. He scored the equaliser in a game where he shouldn't have played (neither Torres who by the way played against ManUtd 6 times that season for Liverpool & ManUtd, ManUtd won all but that March 1st robbery) January signings when that was a postponed December fixture. And the really soft late pen yet again Chelsea were given just to keep it a little interesting we've scene this over & over again. Happened in 2007/08 although ManUtd still won the title that season as well. But 2009/10 was fixed. And why are you trying to pretend Chelsea would've won their last 3 games if Luiz didn't slip at 0-0 vs ManUtd?? They literally got 1 point lost both of their last 2 away games from their final 3, had no other competitions like cup finals to concentrate on either. Chelsea went on a run of positive results after the March 1st robbery. Game before that Fulham should've given Chelsea their 8th PL defeat after just 26 games but Fulham missed late pen. Spurs who finished 5th only 9 points behind Chelsea were robbed of 2 wins vs Chelsea because of 3 illegal Chelsea goals to turn a 1-0 into a 1-1 handball Drogba at WHL and a 0-1 into a 2-1 win at Stamford bridge Lampard ghost goal & Kalou offside winner. I've seen teams who were as bad as Chelsea were in 2010/11 getting none of the of luck with decisions Chelsea got then and finishing 7th. Chelsea literally did finish 6th the following year and was in no way an unfair league finish for them as well and included yet another 1of those too frequent 2-1 wins where the only legitimate goal was from the opposition, this time Wigan the victims in April 2012. Chelsea cheated in FAcup that year as well needed awful refereeing decisions in the only games they had quite hard teams to play (same with 2009/10). ManUtd won 2010/11 PL Chelsea, ManCity & Arsenal got top4. I don't see it as there was a runner up that year. Even when Chelsea nicked that March 1st win the pun in the paper was "Gunn them a favour" because Chelsea were outside top4 before that game Arsenal 2nd although even they were no threat to ManUtd.

@@JayTechZM Also look how many goals 2009/10 Chelsea scored against less men. Way more than ManUtd. Chelsea are always shit with numerical disadvantage it's probably why refs kept letting them off red card offences in that era. ManUtd were much better with a numerical disadvantage than Chelsea. ManCity 2017/18 I believe only scored 4 of their 106 PL goals vs a team with less men. Loads of Chelsea's 103 in 2009/10 were against less men.

Honestly 2005 was a nearly perfect season for Chelsea from my standpoint...everyone was afraid of Chelsea even in Champions League.

Drogba was fantastic player I did not see any striker strike like him , without any chance he scored and make all bluz fans happy

This era all of them are legend..

The thing Chelsea always had going for us was that we had a full squad of fantastic players all in their prime. That's why playing Chelsea was a nightmare of physicality and mentality, with arsenal; the most youthful team being our biggest victims lol. But the downside was that our young recruits could never dream of making the squad. Imagine KDB trying to bench lampard?!..it could never happen then and it still can't even happen now.

Drogba is 40+ now but I bet you that he can and will still score if it’s against Arsenal 😂😂😂

Coming from a United fan, as a kid this 2010 Chelsea team seemed absolutely unstoppable, apart from Barca in the UCL finals I was never so nervous to face a side. Top class

To be honest the only time it became hard was when the referee was giving Chelsea every decision because this wasn't 1of Chelsea's strongest teams at all they lost the most amount of any of their title wins that season with loads of help on their side they only won that year because PL wanted to avoid same winner 4 years in a row but they had the smallest winning margin out of all their PL titles & most defeats & fewest points, they even lost 3-1 to Wigan that season & struggled home&away vs Hull and many other dodgy games. They play against good squads without completely biased officiating and they get battered ManCity home&away Spurs away and Villa another good squad beat them at Villa Park 11 vs 11 ManUtd comfortably drew that fixture with 10 vs Villa's 11 should've won and ManUtd beat Spurs & ManCity home & away & knocked them both out of the LeagueCup as well and beat Villa in the final. The only good team Chelsea played in FAcup that year was Villa SF and Howard Webb was playing like Martin Atkinson for Chelsea thar game. Chelsea had a lot of corrupt decisions on their side and you only have to look at the number of appointments their most favourite ref Martin Atkinson had for their big games over the years with them constantly winning whenever he was appointed with so many awful decisions (that ghost gosl vs Spurs probably the worst ever decision) but he would still continue to officiate Chelsea's big games. 4 FAcup semi-finals 2009, 2012, 2017 & 2018 & a quarter-final replay 2007. A LeagueCup semi-final replay at Stamford bridge 2019, a last game of a PL season where Chelsea need to win to win the league 2010, constantly refereed their big PL games vs another top4 team including their direct title challenger so they can be given 6-pointers I.e the back-to-back Chelsea vs ManUtd rigged Chelsea wins 2009/10 & 2010/11 extremely controversial both.

Of course Lampard and Drogba were off the charts this season, but Malouda was something else this season as well

We won the league but Manchester City tore our hearts apart this season, One of the most top EPL golden era’s and moments. This was the best brutal Chelsea squad ever, cheers to Abramovich, Mr Ancelotti and the late Ray Wilkins (RIP)…
