In this case Boehly is not to blame. There's a reason why Egbali, Stewart and Winstanley are prominently being mentioned in most reports whilst Boehly has remained silent. Boehly recently backed the team and Poch's performance as well as took him out for a personal dinner prior to all of this. Boehly may be the public face but there's too many decision makers behind the scenes and something worrying is clearly brewing. I'm gutted to think that we ousted Poch because of disputes in player sales and wanting to keep our academy players. That's crazy to think that's one aspect a manager should have the ultimate say in. He wasn't asking for more players but fighting to keep the ones that we have. He simply wanted more say in players which is a fair ask. Surely we should all have a say in what resources we have available in our jobs, same applies here. We've just pushed out a manager who was trying to uphold the club's culture. Strangely enough he was the one person who understood what Chelsea is and Roman's vision of having a brimming academy is finally being realised. The club has now embraced Reece James as the undisputed club captain (rightfully or wrongfully), we've put him front and centre of the team yet it was Poch's decision in the first place; now it seems as if it was always destined to be. Fans and pundits alike were pining for Silva or someone more experienced to be captain yet Poch understood the long term vision. He was trying to develop a homegrown/English-oriented captaincy and hierarchy within the squad with James, Chilwell, Gallagher, Colwill and Chalobah being the lynchpins. For years we were mocked for solely having continental players now we're sacking a manager for wanting to establish a fundamentally English core. He's given debuts to Alfie Gilchrist, Michael Golding, Alex Matos, Josh Acheampong and Leo Castledine, in his first season, more than any other previous manager, under arguably the most tumultuous conditions. What makes this all the more disappointing is that previous years under Roman we felt as if every sacking was ultimately in order to course-correct, in this case it seems as if we're just steering ourselves into uncharted waters with many fighting for the wheel. Poch knew the league and now knew his team, whoever we get would need another adjustment period. Plus even then, what guarantees would have that he won't be sacked for a above-average season? The entire team wanted the manager to stay. Even under the great Tuchel, Conte and Mourinho we had players fall out with them, not with Poch. This is the odd occasion in our history where the team had more faith in the manager than the board. If anything the player's opinion should matter most as they are the ones who work with him daily. Players can never truly buy into a manager's tactics now because their opinion is not valued by the higher-ups. Eventually the players will develop their own "player power mentality" since the managers will be an ever revolving door whilst they're the constants. Poch developed into a father figure for this young crop, helping them develop their games. That's what Fergie did all too well. He may not have been the "winning-mentality" manager we needed long term but he was the right coach for right now. The next manager will be likely be stoic and cold because he'll be fighting for his job from day-one, no patience for these young lads, he'll get frustrated and leave, then the cycle continues again. Just gutted.

As a season ticket holder for 45 years, this is the worst decision I have ever seen. The last thing we need is more instability after finally getting some consistent results. I bet the sporting directors want a young manager, but only so they can influence him and have more control. Bloody mad.

He mentioned that the project wasn't what they had originally thought it was, when asked about upcoming transfers he said people needed to ask the sporting directors, not him, he also mentioned that he wanted some more experienced players (older), etc... This was all while they were winning/doing well =P

It will now be 5 managers since January 2023. It’s beyond ridiculous at this point.

Poch leaving at this time was a bad timing. The players were now getting soacked with his Philosophy, His tactics displayed frequently and a new favourite position for Marc... Everything was gelling so well. The comeback against Forest was a big surprise to me and I felt we would be unstoppable next season under Poch after a full preseason. Sad to hear him leave but wish him all the best and whoever is appointed as his successor, him I wish well too. Saw the news on a WhatsApp page but was waiting for you Fabrizio to confirm and you did.. I didn't even trust the club statement when the app gave me the notice but it is what it is. Stuff like this reaffirms why I have loved FSG right from the start. Even with the whole Super League stuff (which they honestly apologised for), they have always put the future of the club first, doing it in a sustainable and long-term way.

Oh they better explain to the fans why this rash decision?...at least under Abramovich you knew he would replace manager with more experience. And the ROI is often trophies. Tuchel is available, Conte is available, Mourinho is available. When it's all said and done if the owners want long term success on the field they better get the right manager

Rational thinking says that if the board at Chelsea want a young coach who thinks the same way as they do then it would be immaterial which striker the new manager would want, because if they 'think the same' then the board might as well decide. Poch wasn’t sacked because of how the team was playing or because the improvement was slow. He was sacked because he did not want to be a puppet for the owners. As a Chelsea fan I’m actually shocked that he’s gone. Played some amazing football in the last 5 weeks.

The fact that these owners want a dummy coach who accepts all their signings, develops them for profit and win is beyond crazy. Chelsea can never compete like this.

Not a Chelsea fan but Poch did amazing with a young squad that hadn't played together for a while...now i am wondering if whoever replaces him will now want to come in with new signings on top of a squad that is already still trying to bond, another clear out?
