I think so many people underrate how young and how new this squad was. For them to achieve 6th after basically being assembled in two windows is unheard of and they managed it well. Poch was a great manager for building squad unity and identity but they need to move on to something else to achieve tactical dominance over a long period of time

hi NiiNii, there are things that the players at Licester, are doing with fluidity and that is their unselfish behavior in frotn of the post. we were struggling with simple stuff like that from the beginning of the season up until the last 5 to7 games. we started to show some sparks of unselfishness. Sterling, Jackson and Mudryk were the champions on selfishness and i can say clearly that out of 10 goals that they could assist other to score they only secure 3 assists. this was not so much about the coach telling them but Palmer was assisting all our players reight, left, centre you name it, so they were forced to stop being selfish. I HAVE FAITH IN THIS NEW COACH AND THE QUALITY OF PLAYERS THAT WE CURRENTLY HAVE.

This new manager appointment will honestly be more of a test on this squad as opposed to Moresca's tactics. I'm not fully convinced sacking Poch was the right way to go, but I can see why some thought otherwise. Especially after watching this vid. Hopefully he can translate this type of football to the prem. UTC🔵

One thing I love watching his systems is that when a pass is made it’s almost like it activates someone to move or shift or something. It’s beautiful not gonna lie. Players look like they are never standing around

Very purposeful. Enzo is big on space and playing your own game in the space. The theory is that the team you’re playin against will respond to that and triggger openings in the space you want to be. Watching this only confirms that. Curious how this will be against low block sides

I don't think so. The main complaint about him by Leicester fans was, he doesn't have a plan B. That's a big deficit in epl.. He won't win matches, most of the winnable matches will end in a draw..

Guardiola managed Barcelona B from 2007-2008 before Barcelona, so I'm keeping an open mind, and maybe he'll be really impressive. As long as the club gets the right players, he should have a good chance with his knowledge and understanding.

You can absolutely say this about basically most top level managers at some point that they come into top level management. There’s guardiola, but also guys like arteta, mckenna already massively successful himself despite having similar experience to Enzo. Wenger had a few years under his belt before Arsenal but managed some pretty mid French teams and Nagoya whose win% was unremarkable. I think we need to have a greater tendency toward managers who basically spell out what the club wants as their identity rather than a figurehead that the club hires simply because they’re good. If everything is in accordance at Chelsea, I’m confident that it’ll breed more success (especially in terms of maintaining some sense of longevity in this project) than chopping and changing of styles and as a result altering the squad. Chelsea have never been able to do that and in reality I feel that the squad under abramovic was headed toward some brutal years anyway.

It was too chaotic with Abramovich and even though there was success, they would consistently fall against a ruthless dynasty such as Man City and other top European clubs. This ownership has made mistakes and will continue to do so, but as long as they learn and continue to create this playing philosophy, youth system, and style of play, the performances will be consistent in accordance with new managers fitting into the regime, which will ultimately build a dynasty. This vision is a desirable one.

@@SaintCashel agreed! I get the complaints but the acceleration and proactivity leaves me more on the hopeful side!

My main issues with current squad and Marecsa tactics: - lack of ball playing keeper - lack of ball playing CB that can play in the middle of back 3 (someone like T.Silva) - waste of talent from our overlaping Full bacs due to inverted tactics from Maresca (James, Gusto, Chilwell) - Too many ball playing CDMs that cant play together (Enzo, Caicedo, Lavia)

Colwill can play that role, he’s good with the ball at his feet and can pick out a pass. I would worry about his inexperience though, playing such an important role. And although James provides a lot out wide, I don’t think him being in midfield will be a waste of his talent. He has the skill set to be really effective in midfield, it can be good for his body as well

1. We will buy a new gk and hopefully sell kepa and Sanchez 2. Colwill is our best ball playing cb now he will play CCB 3. It’s way too soon to write off our CMs when we’ve only seen them under poch who was poor tactically Maresca will show our midfields true potential

Keeper definitely is an issue. Basically ALL of our Cb’s are ball playing CB’s. Trev being the one who’s the least comfortable on the ball but he’s great at playing passes. Also,Badi and Colwell can play in the middle. They just aren’t as good as Silva. YET. Chalk it down to coaching and injuries. Maresca is known to invert his right back but our Rb’s are so talented they will do equally well in the midfield. So there really won’t be any drop off. You’re just providing more protection. I think he’ll look at the squad and decide to invert the LB anyway instead since most of our talent and goals come from the right. Enzo is a regista. Caicedo is a box to box mid and Lavia CAN be a sitting Cdm but I also view him as more of a box to box. They can most def play together because all of them have the technical quality and passing ability. Enzo and Lavia deeper and Caicedo playing that Gallagher role. Caicedo actually being able to play people in and spot passes unlike Gallagher.

Looks the biz ok , has modern football acumen, but has one hell of a job on his hands at the bridge , hope he brings in a good centre forward and a couple of solid defenders

The only reason why I was skeptical about this hire is because of this exact reason. Madueke and Mudryk can't even do the things that their wingers do. Mudryk has the potential to, but I'm not hopeful. The wingers that suit this man's style of play are Olise, Mahrez, Palmer, Kvaratskhelia, and Hudson-Odoi. Wingers that can do everything and don't necessarily have to have a blistering pace.

Remember people this is the championship against teams that haven’t played top level football in decades. So the application may change. Leicester fan here. Maresca is a good manager but near the end of this season in the championship his way of playing was not working and there were a number of defeats and we nearly blew promotion. Maresca did not have a plan B and in the end the Players like Vardy rallied round and got us over the line, so we don't know that under pressure he can cope or not. For Chelsea with the players you have he might just be the right man but you are taking a risk too. Good luck with Enzo!!

I've said it for years, we will struggle at home as it's such a small pitch there isn't a lot of room to get round a low block.Hence why we did so well under JM, we had a low block and great in transition. I'm hopeful tho, he looks like a good pick.

Angelo and Noni will be extremely important in this formation. I just hope we get Angelo back as Noni picks up a few injuries during a season. We don’t really have any other high and wide left footed players who thrive in one on one’s with speed and size.

So i've seen all Chelsea content creators going for this 4-3-3 lineup and a very similar lineup and strategy that Maresca used at Leicester but it seems to me that he adapted to that formation based on the players he had and their strengths because if you look it up he also used a 4-2-3-1 about 12 times last season and other formations even a 3-4-3. He might actually adapt based on the players we have and i am suspicious of that since it was his in depth knowledge of our squad what got him the job. I think the only ones who really know what he plans are the sporting directors since he presented his plans to them and it might not be a 4-3-3 but i guess all we have for now are speculations.

As much as I hate to say this, I think this fella, Maresca would be a huge success. Having watched Chelsea Leicester, they outplayed us, but for individual brilliance and Poch's tweak made the difference. If our players can comply with his system, we'll be unbeatable for long stretches.

Outplayed? Be serious, Chelsea should have been 4-0 up at half time. Apart from the point when Disasi made that stupid own goal up to when Leicester got the red card, Chelsea were generally comfortably on top and Leicester left tons of holes in their press. Leicester had only 5 shots and just 1 on target, Leeds gave Chelsea way more trouble than Leicester did.

i know ppl will call him a yes sir kinda coach but the truth is, looking at what he achieved with leicester is incredible, he played against chelsea and has seen what the players can do, so saying is ok with the squad means he has a good idea of what and how he wants to play and he believes these players can give him that result. mind you chelsea quality of players was the reason we won them in the fa cup and again the team also became better after we played them. I love how angry he looks when they loose a match

I will bookmark this video so when we do worse than pochettino next season, we can look back at this video and laugh.
