It´s all about being favorites and not being able to press without compromising defensively. Aston Villa aren´t Sunday league amateurs, if a high pressure combined with an equally high defensive line isn´t perfectly balanced then you will be punished, Liverpool learned that the hard way. Tottenham havn´t won their two games at home but when underdogs they could exploit Uniteds somewhat lack of organization and naive approach in the back. Underdogs have been able to punish high defenses more than usual, whether this is a trend or early hangovers remains to be seen.

Chilwell is worth every penny with such performances. Havertz and Werner will slowly prove their worth, we should give time for them to improve their fitness and settle in. I believe in Ziyech's ablities. Our attack is really scary with Pulisic back in too. Problem is our defense is just as scary :(

Zouma's a great no nonsense defender but his technical ability isn't exactly elite level yet, personally I am tired of seeing half our goals against going in because of individual slip ups and set pieces, the way Lampard sets up his attack is legendary, unstoppable but seriously we're playing with 2 holding midfielders one of which is the best in the world and we only have 1 cleansheet this season . If Lampard and his staff put as much consideration into our defence as they do to our attack I think these issues can be cleared up.

Problem with dropping Zouma is we lose our ability to defend crosses and attack set pieces. He clears almost every corner and is the most threatening off corners. Although Christensen has a good game I think our best pairing is Thiago and Zouma right now. Thiago would have never let that through ball to ings slip through and wouldn’t have made a half arsed attempt at passing the ball to kepa. The fk is Zouma doing after he makes that pass. He needs to run back.

@@powerrangers16712 Depth is needed, what if Kante gets injured, there is no other quality DM. Besides if Chelsea had another DM to come off the bench then things may have been different today. 2 DM together can see off the one goal advantage, just like Mourinho did back in 2014-15 title run in, when he would bring on Mikel to partner Matic, and see off the game, now-a-days, Chelsea do not have that option.

Just look at Zouma's attitude on the second goal of Southampton. He made a mistake, then Kepa is not able to catch the ball, and Zouma's body tell that he is complaining about Kepa instead of trying to defend. If Zouma tried to run before complaining, we've had a chance to defend and not concede a goal...

I get what your saying but to be honest kepa should be smacking that away i can guarantee if che adams saw a 6'7 mendy coming at him he probably wouldn't of even challenged that. Kepa also had another opportunity to clear and zouma was probably anticipating the ball to be in the back of the net a lot sooner than it did

They are not bad. Comunication plays a big role in the defence. Against Crystal Palace, we kept a clean sheet because Mendy, Silva and Zouma speak french. In this second goal, Zouma thought that Kepa would do something, but that wasnt clear for Kepa. Theres no one to blame, just a bad understanding
