Honestly, while at university, I cooked for myself as much as possible. Bar fridge containing a bottle of passata, an onion, a jar of anchovies, a hot plate, some dried pasta (penne rigate) and herbs, you can make a pretty decent pasta marinara for less than 2.00$ CAD (1.50$ USD). You can even do it all in a microwave in a pinch. An Italian nonna would have a heart attack, but it can be done.

@@jordanhicks5131 Okay, I stumbled into this video three years after the fact and it still pissed me off enough to put this on the comments. The fact taht they're selling a box of iberico in plastic blisters for that money is a crime against humanity. I mean, look at that thing. It's goopy, it's stuck together, it's cut in long slices that look like they belong in a sandwich. If you're gonna spend that money on a ham, even as a gift, buy a whole piece and carve it yourself. I buy blisters of serrano sometimes to use as an ingredient, it's fine, I'm not judging. Just... do it with the cheap stuff. I don't know if that makes the "gift box" more pretentions our not pretentious enough, though.

I think it’s more in reference to the fact that it’s not being sold as a mainstay pretentious ingredient, but rather was offered as a special edition novelty ingredient, and therefore that price will fluctuate depending on the seller. you should do a pass it on episode where you make a soup, and the worst cook goes first, and the best chef goes last.

Mike: "currently relatively positive thoughts, let's change that" Me *cried internally cause I already listened to to podcast* "No, please, don't do it, don't say it, we are having such a nice time!" Mike: *says the wrong price* Me: "wait, that's not as bad as you had said that's not so..." Mike: *starts increasing the price* Me: *screams internally*

I make ginger tea at home when I'm feeling unwell. I save the peels of my ginger in the freezer to make it with. Feels nice to be making my tea from real ginger. Makes me feel fancy. I think I'd be too stressed by the price of that jar to enjoy it.
