It likely said on the foil Ben peeled off -- regular Sterno only burns at 80*C but I imagine that for a pizza oven it would need to be higher. It does look depressingly like the same blue gel from regular Sterno, though, in which case you don't need the gadget at all.

I actually got my grandmother an electric jar opener. At first, she was annoyed because she said she never ate anything that came in jars and she wouldn’t have any use for it. Turns out she wasn’t able to open jars so she just didn’t buy anything that came in one. Two years later she now uses it on a daily basis!

It's always really nice to see someone review a gadget and understand that it's market is more for people with mobility/dexterity issues and not just say "Who needs this? Just open the f***king lid" I get very tired of having mobility problems get completely glazed over by people who don't struggle with them.

That mnemonic never made sense to me... If you're opening a jar or a bottle, the part that's facing towards you goes right to loosen it and left to tighten it. And if you're looking at it from above, then there's equal amounts of the lid going right, left, up, and down. D= Y'know what makes more sense, while keeping the alliteration? "Closes clockwise."

I used to own a second hand one of these egg toasters, it takes a couple of goes to adjust the water measurement to suit your taste/conditions but they are brilliant.. i used to make poached eggs on toast with wilted spinach and cheese for breakfast or lunch in 4 minutes. By the time you toast the bread, butter it and put on the cheese the egg and spinach were ready to go. You could make a perfect McDonalds style egg mcmuffin each morning, warm sausages/meats cook mushrooms, berries and cook dumplings as it doubles as a mini steamer :) i got it secondhand, used it for 4 years until it started to have trouble heating the toast and still miss it.

@@rasmusazu I used to cook for a living and remember being handed a 20 kg bag of onions and told how many prep pans of each dice size and slice thickness to do. And how you HAD to manage your time. That is the big reason for the chaos in "Pass It On". Only something like toasting pine nuts really need ALL your attention because they burn in seconds and your boss yells at you for wasting expensive ingredients. But the lads have done the food stand thing and opened that pop up in Japan. So don't write off your suggestion just yet. It would take some planning and they could do it like larger restaurants have a rotating staff meal. But those items are really, really important for people that have physical limitations. Because those people are probably not enough to make manufacturing the product profitable, the companies have to do those kind of "are you too lazy" marketing schemes to sell enough.

You could use the food saver to make meals ahead, but it also seems it'd be great for prep. Spend Sunday afternoon prepping your ingredients for the meals that you'll be making through the week. When the day comes to make a specific meal, get out your chopped, mixed, etc ingredients and make your meal. Save a TON of time on the evening itself doing prep and cleanup, but you have the freshest pre-prepped ingredients you can have and you have a fresh meal.

I "vacuum seal" my regular storage bags using a drinking straw. I just add the food (I wrap it in cling wrap first), insert a straw into the bag, seal the bag up to the straw, suck out the air and while I am still sucking on the straw I pinch the bag around the straw, pull the straw out with my lips and seal the bag. It works perfectly and the straw takes up no space. It's food for my own consumption but am curious to know if Ben considers it an unsanitary solution.
