Chef Reactions Does New York (kinda...)

I know, I know... I f'd up. Big time. Look, it was my first time EVER in NYC, so I had to stay pretty much centrally located in Manhattan to maximize my sight seeing capabilities. I have learned, I have grown, I will be better next time.
Here's what we did in New York City this trip:
0:03 Intro to New York City
0:40 The Grill NYC
0:52 Barney Greengrass
0:59 Central Park
1:18 Law and Order
1:31 American Museum of Natural History
2:30 L'Ami Pierre Cafe
2:39 Wicked on Broadway NYC
2:44 Time's Square Walkaround
2:52 Carnegie Diner
3:07 Ess-A-Bagel
5:30 MOMA (Museum of Modern Art)
5:53 Dinner at Tatiana
6:30 Empanada Mama
7:12 MetLife Stadium in New Jersey
7:26 Shake Shack
7:43 The Vessel at The Hudson Yards
8:26 Mercato Little Spain NYC
8:35 Helados Cafe
8:42 The Highline Walkway
9:03 Carbone
9:34 Chinatown NYC
9:40 Mei Lai Wah
9:48 Great N.Y. Noodletown
10:39 Grand Central Station
10:50 St. Patrick's Cathedral NYC
11:09 Street Performer in New York
11:24 Outro
I'm still trying to figure out a format for these videos that stays authentic to me, but is also more than just "point the camera and let the dummy dumb". I'm working on it.

Wicked was awesome. Ess-a-bagel tip, go wait in line you impatient jerk, get a dozen (bulk orders can skip the deli line) and enjoy the bagels hot out of the oven. Like Montreal, it's the best way to have the bagels... still warm. Also, get a better EPL team. Liverpool are the kings of Europe. Best Arsenal pick up line, "I start on top and finish second"... good luck and I love your content...

so happy to see Chef wandering around in my city! love your videos. and you're right, the more you can do for free the better. the park is my favorite oasis. and its not a pro tip by any means, but I always look at the caesar salad price as a gauge when deciding where to eat. $34 at carbone?? no freaking way, man. hope you had a good time overall!

Great video, great tips. I would love to see you reacting to clips from The Bear, as it's my only other exposure to the BOH perspective, certainly at the fine cuisine level. Some of us live a couple thousand miles from the nearest Michelin-rated establishment. But if you're ever in Anchorage, you can probably find a couple solid 7 and 8s. Thanks, Chef!

I haven't been to any of the restaurants you checked out (heard of them though), so that was a plus. I value your genuine reviews. 1) "Ess" is Yiddish for "eat." I don't know when bagels became big and fluffy. Leo Rosten, in his book "The Joys of Yiddish," describes a bagel as "tough as a snow tire." In my book, a bagel that's bigger than 4-5" wide and maybe 1-1/2" tall is not a bagel, it's a kiddie pool innertube. 2) Re: Museum of Modern Art: It proves that art is anything you can get away with. 3) 28 bucks to get into the Museum of Natural History? I remember when it was free. I guess rich tech bros aren't doing the kind of philanthropy that billionaires used to do. 4) "Caribbean fine dining" is an oxymoron. Caribbean fine dining is fresh fish caught that afternoon by the guy on the snorkel boat who invites you to dinner on the beach later and feeds you that fish with rice and vegetables cooked in a Dutchie as the sun sets on 7-mile beach in Negril, Jamaica, and it's the best dinner of your life. 5) I was surprised not to see Katz' Deli here, given that you went to Chinatown/Little Italy. But then, you ARE a contrarian sort...

One thing I love about STL is that they set up the museum district so there are no admission fees for local or out-of-towners with locals. Even if you do have to pay admission the lines aren't hella long. The best thing I ate there isn't from a restaurant. It was chargrilled pork steaks. Supermarkets and butcher shops outside of the Lou try to pass off sliced pork butt but it's not the same. Chef's take on toasted ravioli would be salty but there is great Italian fare on the Hill. Plus Chef would love the Eastern European food.
