Juneteenth is a holiday celebrating the liberation of those who had been held as slaves in the United States. Originating in Texas, it is now celebrated annually on the 19th of June throughout the United States, with varying official recognition.

I'm so happy! I recently came out as trans-black (I was assigned white at birth) and it's nice to be able to celebrate the liberatory victories of people like me. I just wish they had mentioned trans-racial people like me, cis-black people are centered in black history discussions, it's very exclusionary. trans-black people are black people!
