I am going to try using a little quilt batting and quilt the wings to give them some dimension. Love it. I am making an egg gathering apron for a client and I think I'll make her a chicken with the fabric scraps for a gift.

I love this pattern. I'm using my chicken as a pincushion. I love pin cushions. Thankyou, also each chicken has there own name. Use this kind of patterns for relaxing. Love sewing even I'm that good at it. My chickens have unusual names. So thankyou, it has been enjoyable doing this chickens. Now I have 7 chickens, plus all the other ones,I have given as gifts.

I am going to attempt to make a couple of these,my sister is just about to move into their newly built home and they are chicken farmers up here in B.C,Canada.I might try using very small buttons for the eyes,and instead of having the wings as pockets I would stuff them slightly and sew them on so they flap.Can't wait to try!

You know, Sue, I was going to use buttons too! But I couldn't find 2 small ones that matched :) . So, I just went for the floss. But, I think buttons will be perfect!

Thanks Kelly! That is tiny piece of vintage patchwork that I found at a thrift store or at a antique shop. I just added a backing and stuffed! It is a favorite for sure :)

I made your chicken. The worst part is sewing that bottom piece UGH! it’s really cute! And I like the small size. I didn’t stuff it so tight and I put a bag of poly beads in bottom to keep the round bottom down because I had them. The comb had to be slightly decreased in size in order to stay out of the seam, even with the folding under. But I managed through it. Thanks for sharing your pattern.

Had an idea do you think it would work? If you didn't fully sew up the back and inverted a largish pocket do you think it would hold eggs on the inside?
