I enjoyed vey much seeing Chee-yun guide the student through this lovely piece. For those who think that they have the education to judge her negatively, I can only say that she has taught some of us very much in these videos. If music were only for musicians, the audience would be very small. Musically uneducated music lovers like myself have benefitted greatly from Chee-yun's videos.
I'm very impressed with Chee-Yun's teaching style and comments on the Bruch! Very helpful! Thank you for posting!
I only can say mrs.Chee-Yun Kim is not only a great violin player but also a very gifted teacher and she has the possibility to take the student to the highest level, it is amazing and impressing to watch!!!!!!
The teacher and the student represent two kinds of charm.
Omg! She is great! The beginning of the 1st movement is just magnificent!
Thanks so much for posting this! Very helpful! Some very talented ladies ❤️
Amazing. One of the best masterclasses I have ever watched.
Watched the first few or so minutes(3-10 mins) of this masterclass few years ago or so as a high school student during my intermediate to into to advanced Lit. period as a student violinist. Reflecting back on it now as a violin performance major taking a stride into this piece as a more advanced performer during my first year(Readmit Freshman, Former Class of '20 Student), I'd confidently claim my conscience about already knowing what this professional violinist is referring to when performing and analyzing this iconic, Into to Adv Level Lit piece to convey the emotions it has to offer to those who put forth efforts alongside the realization of knowing what a music is, more as a aspiring pro or passionate hobbyist.
bravo thank you posting this I enjoyed the insights into Bruch's notation
it helps a lot!! thank you so much
Beautiful nuanced performance performance by a gifted student. Chee-Yun is a teacher of the highest order, crystal-clear, articulate in defining what borders on the indefinable. The accompanist is first-rate, nicely replacing a whole orchestra. This wonderful music would make a great violin-piano sonata.

Sam G just not enough of it, we’d really be talking if she had 5 times the amount then she could expand her depth even further.
“I love big bits”
She is a very great pedagogue!!
Chee Yun, me caes muy bien.
My friend from KMF!!!!!
The student is soft spoken - that's why it's a bit difficult - and her teacher is not teaching her on this like I do

Student's bow pressure (too little?) issue needs to be addressed...so that first note sounds thin..

I agree. she did not quite catch the string most of the time. but she is good player!

Yes, the first note has to be a strike but she just put it lightly. Even Kim told her to let it out. She was still holding back. I have seen this many times on students in orchestra. They learned to blend in instead of stand out which is a soloist should do.
So I can sing it.
you need to know how to express the music. deliver your feelings and emotion through the piece you are interacting with. you can't be same from beginning to end just being scared to make mistakes and no emotion involved. the student has basic good color of voice with her nice instrument along but doesn't have a daring push through, whereas the teacher has the daring side and technique but lacks extra color of her own in her sound. thats why selecting a good instrument that sings itself with nice tone is important. it makes even bad players sound amazing. lol

No, she was playing too carefully and didn't push the limit of her violin.
