About CHECKMATE: James is bullied by Nick, an imaginary "friend" he created by accident, that he must get rid of. In a therapy session, he tells his doctor how a final game of chess led to the demise of Nick.
Director Statement: Checkmate was written to immerse the audience in an emotional rollercoaster. I wanted to write and direct a character that felt real and vulnerable, one whose problems were internal to himself. I believe that the deepest stories are told about problems the main character is facing from within. In James' case, you'll have to watch and see for yourself.
