They do something similar for soil testing. This is the same concept. Normally an old mayo jar with a lid, or that like, is used. The lighter manure floats/is higher and the heavier soil sinks to the bottom in layers of clay sand and silt. Let sit for a few hours (if you feel you can), then look because by then the finer dirt will have settled out as well. Lost a horse to sand, but it killed the horse quickly. It brought on colic... Hope you horse is okay.

What were the results after the vet call? Hoping this mare made it. I have dealt with similar yet it was ulcers in an ottb. Mare gets fed 2 x daily, high fat grain, 24/ 7 high quality hay plus nice week free pasture. Did not do this test as we don’t have sand here. Did the 30 day treatment plus added Calf Manna High Fat supplement. Mare looks amazing within 6 weeks.

The mare had about 30 to 35 pounds of sand in her stomach, The vet tubed her and pumped with about a pound of Psyllium, Mineral Oil and water. It has now been two weeks you we can already to see a big difference in her weight. mikehugheshorsetraining.vhx.tv
