Checking out the Philips AC0820/30 Air Purifier - Silent and Effective Purification

Last month I picked up three of these Philips Air Purifiers to help out with dog allergies and human hay fever issues. After 3+ weeks of use I feel I can now give my thoughts on if these devices are any good or not.

  • @SpectrumGeeks

The particulate sensor is still detecting the air requires purification, so its simply doing its job. Either the room you are trying to purify is to large for the unit, or something in the room is generating unclean air that is requiring the air purifier to consistently work. My first suggestion would be to gently clean the sensor with an ear bud or similar and see if maybe something just got stuck on it, just be careful as it is fragile.

Not sure I follow, the On / Off switch is at the back of the unit.

@@SpectrumGeeks Yup, and the powerbrick will continue to provide power up to the power switch. It is the same with any brick you plug in the wall with no device attached. They all consume power non the less. So it isn't like with some old TV for instance that had a physical switch that would cut the AC to the power supply of that TV, and stop the power draw from the wall completely. To me that is a bad design decision by Philips. It was better to have an internal power supply to which you could cut off power with that physical switch. A figure 8 power cable would be enough and easily replaceable with a longer one if you so desired for placement.
