@@lelandgaunt7130 Recessed are for sure better and i prefer it overall, but it doesn't fit the vintage Charvel Strat look imo, so i always pick a non-recessed floyd rose on Stratocasters, because thats what they had back in the days when it was retrofitted, its more authentic. If i want a guitar with the best playability then i go for something complete different and buy a super strat like ESP M series, Jackson Soloist or Charvel Dinky, then you get 24 frets, much better heel contour/neck-thru and much deeper cut on the horns, and a recessed floyd.

Just a tip if you want to tighten the arm socket you can just loosen the strings and then remove of the springs from the back and after that remove the floyd and tighten the screw no need to remove the strings all together. This is also handy if you need to change the pickups or do things to the fretboard. But i agree the small cavity is an oversight from charvel.

1000 Floyds are Ok but need the push in arm bad, the best upgrade you can do to them IMO. I think the vol-pot is in an Ok position compared to others, what is important is, that it doesn't sit right under the tremolo arm when you are playing, so you bump into it all the time and limit the travel.

Yeah, if they moved it back where Euge likes them, lots of folks would complain. It's the same with a Strat. If I have not played mine for ages, the volume control feels like it's in the way when I am palm muting and it annoys me. I get used to it eventually though. Then I decide I do not like Strats all over again (I really like them when other people play them though -- lots of my fav players used them)

I like Charvel guitars a lot. The neck profiles seem to fit my hands like a glove. Skinny, but not silly skinny like a Wizard neck. Not keen on relic jobs though. It reminds me of those pre ripped jeans that are trying too hard to be cool. Each to their own I guess though. Nobody is forcing me to buy one. There are types of aging that are necessary though. Aging replacements parts so they match old guitars. Another is replicating a guitar that nobody much ever has a chance of owning, e.g., Eddie's Frankie. One thing lots of companies now use is that pale brown looking Indian rosewood. It does not look dark and gnarly like the Brazilian stuff that lots of guitars had until the 1990s or so. Fair enough though, because that wood is endangered. Rain forests and all that. If I am not going for a maple fingerboard, I'd choose ebony over that pale rosewood. Gibson aging and relicing is the one that annoys me the most, because their best instruments all tend to have either it, or VOS aging. If I was after a 1959 reissue Les Paul, I'd want the finish and spec to be exactly the same as if I had a time machine and went back to buy on brand new one in 1959, i.e, the same new guitar experience a person would have had back in the day. Then I'd play it lots, so the wear and tear is all earned, rather than faked. I am not after a 1959 though. I am happy as with my SG Standard and trusty old 1990s Les Paul Studio that has an ebony fingerboard and a Super Distortion pup. It's such a good sounding guitar that I think I would find it hard to get a better sounding brand new one. The neck is a little chubby, but I think that might be part of why it sounds so good. I love the '60s neck on the SG, but I want bigger frets installed (bigger frets usually make bending and vibrato easier -- if anybody was wondering -- down side is they can feel like judder bars on your finger tips when you slide between positions, unless they are the really rounded ones). P.S. The slightly modded Plexi sounds great with your TS808 type pedal. Usually your best tones are from a SD1, but the TS808 really suited that amp with that guitar. Sounded great. Really great.
