In this episode I got to take a look around Saddam Hussein's Mercedes Laundolet limo which he used for his official public outings. It was very creepy!

Iraqui businessman "acquired" the car ..... meaning: A bodyguard took the keys because he had access to them and got the hell out of Irak and turned into a businessman once in Jordan and sold it to Mercedes dealerr.

Here's something not a lot of people know, JFK's car had those platforms for bodyguards to stand on and in fact JFK's car did have those bodyguards on the platforms that fateful day. However around 1 minute before the first shot rang out the bodyguards were ordered to stand down and stepped off the platforms and looked at each other with confusion as the Presidents car carried on without them and to his death.

Jfk's pin that broke the camels back was to break protocol and not immediately going full throttle at the first sign of trouble i.e. 1st non fatal shot. The driver should do this if not the passenger is to step on the pedal themself, neither did this. The Lincoln was not a rocket but would have made 2 shots so close a vastly more unlikely proposition. Although having at least 30% of the protection detail sleep deprived or hung over helps explain that. This was not unique to this last trip and well known would surely have been information an enemy would have found out. The partying was even mentioned on a sopranos episode.

A Danish Travel Agency owner, known for his extreme life style, Simon Spies, owned two Mercedes 600, long versions. Named the best luxury car in the world, better than a Rolls Royce! With really a lot of hydraulic components, also the door windows, he had one restored for a higher price than a new, at the special, small Mercedes 600 Factory in Munich. One is in the Danish Technical Museum today.

Maybe the last RR State Landaulette was coachbuilt by Hoopers over 2 years 1990/91 the Hooper Rolls-Royce Emperor State Landaulette came to Australia in 1993 for motor shows and charity events. It had a lift out targa top in front of the mohair convertible for standing for ceremonial occasions. St Patrick for the Sydney St Patrick's Day. Over the central rearward facing seats (back rests folded down with slide out tables) was a further sunroom and glass partitioned chauffeur's compartment. In addition to crystal campaign flutes and spirit glasses it has sold silver Asprey's his & hers grooming sets. Maybe the first car to have a built in Toshiba laptop and printer as well as a Phillips LED TV... Electric rear lounge, intercom from rear to chauffeur. Only one open car was built at the cost of UK st. 325,000 without VAT. 9 closed Emperor State Limousines were built for a bargain UK st. 210,000 + VAT. 16 Mulliner Park Ward Rolls-Royce Phantom State Landaulettes were built with the last in 1986 for the Sultan of Brunei, 6 years after the 15th Phantom VI State Landaulette was built. Closed Phantom VIs continued until 1990. Theses were all smaller than the Saddam Hussein 600 Landaulette.

On my second deployment to Iraq I cant remember for sure but there was this broken down abandoned bullet proof Mercedes sitting in the desert. If I could get in contact with some of my fellow Marines I would know more. That thing had like 8 inch door.

Mercedes bought it from a thief stole it under cover of the US occupation and he calls it a legitimate sale !! This car belongs to the Iraqi people ,it should be in an iraqi museum not your garage if you have any bits of honor.

I’m sure he said they have proof of ownership….he always does. it’s just all the damage etc to the vehicle they are not certain on what was done to the car and when. The reason it’s not being fixed up is leaving as is because of the history. Whatever happened in previous history to the car, who knows but a Mercedes guy from the area sold Leslie the car with full ownership papers.
