Checking out Riverheads first double black MTB trail.
Спорт
Me and Steve ride New Floating bridge a re-built mountain bike trail in Riverhead forest in Auckland.
The trail is listed on trail forks as a double black trail. The start is certainly steep with a steep option and a really steep option.

Rode these on worn Buthchers, basically was sideways the whole way. Threw on Assegai and DHRII, transformed my ride , now these are my two favourite trails, so much fun.

You can't beat some new rubber.
Nice one fella. Great to see Steve smashing it for us “stockier” blokes. 😁👍

Also..I'm very concerned about e bike motors not lasting very long...is this true?

Thanks Ian for the kind words. Firstly buy an ebike you will love it. I have always loved bikes since I was a child. E bikes have all the fun of a normal bike but remove the non fun bits. Do the motors last? I believe there is about a 5% failure rate with motors and this can occur early which is why a warranty is worth having. The specialized motors did have a belt that kept breaking but hopefully that problem has been solved. I know a guy who has done 10 000 km on his shimano motor and still going strong. I think most people get a lot of milage out of the motor. The battery will probably start to fail sooner than the motor. Saying that you can replace a motor and battery. Just DO IT.
Great effort Lance. That steep line is nuts, first time I saw it it person it gave me vertigo. I think Steve made the more sensible choice and took the “easy” entrance. 🤣

Of course the gopro makes everything look flat.
Inspiring as usual. Awesome
I rode that track a month or two ago and that first super steep roll does not look even close to how steep it actually is! It looks almost vertical in person

The gopro effect is unbelievable in this video. I was trying to inch my way down but it is way to steep for that.
🤘
Steve’s really improved a lot over the last year 👍🏻 looks like a great line keep up the good work 🍻

Steve was living next to the forest for a year and spent a lot of time in there.
Nice looking first trail. Could do with a bit of work to tidy it but otherwise great.
Epic
Good to see you are back on a track that doesn't have a kill me drop off

@@seniorsone5066 sounds familiar.
There must be some trail making legends at Riverhead considering how fast these appears after felling.

Look at trail forks for the shear volume of trails being built. Alot of hard working trail builders.
The ramp down on the cheese-grater track looks like nothing on the gopro 😳
