I had no idea this library was so AWESOME in every way!! Love the interface, ease of use and customizing and the huge variety of cool samples and presets. I know it's primarily for cinematic use but my mind is churning with a bunch of other ways to incorporate this super cool library in my music. Thank you for taking the time to review!!

Actually, there are presets that more fit hip hop and EDM genres than cinematic

Got this one on release, it's amazing. The new features (arp, new filters) make it more versatile than Straylight was for importing your own samples.

Hats off to NI for this one. So much possibilities with the engine! Love it!

I got the full 3 part “light” bundle for $199 a few months ago (about $65 each) and they are some of the best libraries I have! I have 1 video up using them.

You do a great job of reviewing sample libraries. In fact, Sample Library Review is the first channel I go for a review of samplelibraries, as Dutch would spell them. And well, this is the 'checking out', not a full review, I know. But the point of a youtubereview is for a large part to hear what the library can do. The reviewer can then add information about how it is playable and what the opinion of a preset is. Anyhow, keep up the good job!

I'm craving Ashlight and Straylight. I so don't need them, but there's no harm in picking them up and using them anyway, hahahaha! Crossing my fingers for nice discounts this November.

You made me buy this library! Native Instruments should hire you... This is just a "checking out", I can totally imagine what you'd do if you are asked to create a score using this library. I guess this is the ONLY library required to score thrillers/creepy stuff.

I so want this when I can afford it. Have to start saving and maybe for Christmas or black Friday they have a sale again :)

Some of the presets sound like Native Instruments' attempt at recreating Mick Gordon's DOOM music. And it sounds freaking wicked.

Every once and a while there is a demo video that inspires you to buy a library more than the one produced by the developer. A lot of the time that video is by Sample Library Review. You should be a staple option for "how did you hear about us?" questionaires.

I was intrigued how what the dif would be from pharlight & especially straylight! But definitely uniquely- definitely going to make me upgrade to komplete 14 😅

Thanks for this video! I’ve been very curious about this library. Quick question though…is it a bit cpu heavy? I know some of these types of synths can really put a strain on the cpu and I’ve heard Straylight and Pharlight are a little intense.

Per NI website, Straylight needs an i7 processor, but Ashlight needs only an i5. It should be easier on your CPU than the previous entries. Edit: I have a number of heavyweights synthesizers, and Ashlight is definitely the heaviest on CPU. I’m planning to complete the trilogy, so it probably won’t be my heaviest for too long lol.

You'd think this would be part of Komplete 13 Ultimate...50% off now in Dec 2021. This won't be on sale for the whole the month though...I just had to. Ashlight and Audio Ollie Scoring Synths with Unify...crazy.

which one is better Ashlight or Straylight ? I'm hesitating for my last "Black Friday" purchase

Very nice sounding presets. It would be useful to be able to Record & Playback the XY pad path movements. Also, instead of abbreviating the effects names being used by the XY, why not spell out the full name so that it could be read at a glance? For example, I'm not sure what, "FDK" ,"MFX", "JIT" or "RAT" ? represent unless I click on the initials, "SCN" = Cursor Speed?

Hey Rick, I agree with you on the abbreviations. I think they might be gearing this more to MPE with the XY for performance of those parameters

Hey Rick, you are right. The abbreviations are a bad compromise to make the labelling of the Y axis possible. As a work around, you can go to the Effects or Master page and select the Send Effects panel at the bottom which contains written-out labels for the axis.

I'm a big fan of the Light Trilogy, but as my mother learned me: you can only part with your money once. So I won't pay € 399 for it. Instead, I'll wait patiently until all three are in Kompleter 14. I refuse to call it Ultimate, since it's not Ultimate either. And to be honest, I'll probably upgrade / crossgrade? to Kompletest. NI likes to call that Collected Edition, which is another silly name. If you wonder, my alternate name for Select is Inkomplete. Either way, Arkhis is currently in Kompletest 13, but Sequis isn't yet and since I want both I want Kompletest 14. But again, I'll crossgrade the summer after it's introduced. Here's hoping summer 2023.
