(CHECK DESCRIPTION) How to Fix “Amp Error” on a Head unit

The way I found it to work was to cut the rear speaker wires (purple and green) and the “Amp Error” went away. I found the problem to be the driver side door speaker original wiring stopped the speaker from working. So I rewired it from the adapter to the speaker. Then I rewired the door speakers back to the connections I cut (purple and green) and it works fine now. Surprised me that one mess up could shut the whole system down. Thanks for watching.

By the way, those speakers your checking with a 9 VDC battery... they run in the millivolt range. Connecting a 9 Volt battery is very good way to fry a voice coil in the speaker. Don't do that.. Bad Bad things will happen. The crackle you hear is the voice coil being over loaded and will cook if you keep it up.

Ive been dealing with this al day today. I finally disconnected each speaker one at a time and found out its my front passenger speaker causing it. Its brand new and still sounded great when it kept coming back n randomly. Im gonna take my door panel off tomorrow and make sure nothing is touching. If there isnt and its a short in the wire, i just seen a video where the guy put in new speaker wire and brought it over to the back of the radio and wired it it right to the radio harness (leaving the vehicle wires for that speaker disconnected). Its a lot easier than going through the vehicle wiring.

Okay... so what if you don't use the high input? I used the RCA's and the speaker wires do not come from the head unit. The Speakers are connected directly to the AMP. It does this with two different AMPS one is right out of the box brand new. Strange thing is, it worked for about five days and all of the sudden it started gettin wiggy, and then in the middle of trouble shooting it popped the "AMP Error". I am about ready to toss this Pioneer DEH-6900BT out the windows at about oh... 95 MPH! This thing has been a thorn in my Butt since I bought it last year. One problem after an other. It killed a brand new AMP I paid $450.00 for. I was lucky the store gave me a replacement.

I have the same error but none of my speakers go through the radio they all go through my actual amp. It just started doing this about a week ago and it's driving me nuts

It could be the internal amp in the head unit. If that's the case and you have no warranty, time for a new head unit.
