Just found this channel by mistake - but happy memories playing at Walton and the great teas. Carl was quick bowling then now very military medium. How you didnt walk though? Ha Ha - my old mate Jim Roberts bowling for Cosby wasn't happy!!!

When I played cricket for my local team, our ground was next to the M5, as a bowler, I often had batsmen caught behind from a snick but alas, due to the motorway noise, the umpire “didn’t” hear it and if the batsmen didn’t walk (I blame the Aussies for starting that) then there wasn’t a lot that could be done apart from bowling at the offending batsman head 😂

blame the aussies for not walking ....... they are just a pragmatic lot. there's an umpire on the field so let him earn his money. I'll ask you a question since you're a bowler - how often did you call a batsman back when you knew he had been given out incorrectly by the umpire ?

As an ex player and current Umpire, I have always said, never walk unless it is just obvious. As a player I was given out more times when not out then vica versa. And as an Umpire, I do make mistakes, hear things, see things and have seconds to analyze what I have just seen and then make a decision that will make one side unhappy (I do not have DRS) So to me, unless you are clean bowled or hit the ball in the air and it is obvious it is caught out, then you have the right to stand your ground and wait for the Umpire to raise their finger, even in club cricket.

That's maybe OK when its panel umpires. Mind you, that could be classed as obvious. When its your team mates umpiring you should walk. But either way not walking when you know you are out is cheating and dishonest.

@@scottfletcher9134 I agree that if your mates are umpiring, then you walk. But if you have a Paid Umpire, then you wait. I dont expect anyone to walk, as it is not in the rules. And I know as a player myself, at tines I have been given out when I have not hit the ball. It goes both ways. It is not cheating, it is the game. No rule says you have to walk, that is up to the player.

I remember playing here in the 1960s. Walton had a fearsome fast bowler called Tommy Hubbard who was only dangerous because of the state of the wicket. I got a length ball which reared vertically and hit me on the shoulder. Next batsman in asked for leg stump guard and then backed away to square leg as he hopefully wafted his bat. When Hubbard came out to bat later justice was served when he got a rearing delivery which he could only fend to the slips.

Batsman should be embarrassed by that. At that level you should walk when it’s players umpiring. I hate playing against cheats.

That batsman was me.... And.... I'd travelled a long way just to get out first ball! Plus. I've been given out so many times when I was not out.... Swings and roundabouts. Equilibrium. Please see other videos where I've been given out to a shocking decision!

League umpire then not walking is fine. Club mate standing at the other end you simply walk. Not fair on your mate and an embarrassment to your club.

If they want to cheat then fine. In Vets I just make the bastards pay at the bar after the game, run raffles for a cheap bottle of wine and the money they pay let’s us drink for free. If it takes 12 months to get them back then so be it. If it is away, we just leave. We don’t suffer fools or cheats, the spirit of the game should be number 1.🇦🇺👍

As a wicket keeper it's so annoying when you take a catch standing up and the batsman decides to cheat.... had many a confrontation

Loool! Let's have a look at guilt on Carl's face. I think it was outside edge, it was very windy plus the bowler was blocking umpires view. The batsman was a clear cheat. If he knew he knicked it he should just walk off the pitch not wait for the umpire.

You can forgive the umpire, the player has the right to stand his ground but I could never do it, if I nicked it I walked however it is not cheating the rules are very clear just not within the spirit of the game

It is 100% cheating. The umpire is to officiate over decisions that the two parties cannot agree on. If he knew he was out (and I think that must be the case) then you should walk. If he doesn't, he is acting dishonesty to gain advantage, otherwise referred to as cheating.

The problem is the umpires are part of the batting team. Most if the time it’s both umpire and batsman cheating.

I got given out LBW advancing down the track and getting hit in the crown jewels. Fortunately, I know how big my bollocks are, so accepted the decision with grace

To be fair to The Bison, I didn't hear a noise.

If teams are that desperate to win, and are happy to ruin the game by cheating, let them have the win and walk off the pitch, concede the game, absolutely pointless playing on. If you’re the umpire you have to be completely unbiased.

not to be mean but this was the most pathetic game of cricket ive ever watched
