Cheater Clouds - How To Easily Paint Clouds In Oil!
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Struggle with painting clouds. In this video I will show you how I cheat to create the prefect cloud every time.
A lot of new painters struggle with clouds when they paint in the wet on wet style. Many times your paint will become contaminated with the sky color and lead to a muted white. This will blend with your clouds making them look dull and boring. This video corrects that with an awesome tip that I will share with you.

The timing of this video is perfect. I was practicing clouds last night and was wondering what I need to do to make my clouds white instead of pale blue. Thank you.

Glad I could share with you some on my super duper secrets for better clouds :)
This was an excellent tutorial. Bob Ross always said it's our world and we can do what we want...so why not in stages? I paint in stages because I'm still in the infancy of this and going too fast just muddied my attempts. Slowing down into stages seems to be making the difference.
@WildCreates

No need to go fast - take your time. When you slow down you really have a chance to appreciate what you are doing :)
I did my first ever oil painting on my 50th birthday in July along with a Bob Ross video on KZread. Glad I got that off my bucket list, but way gladder I found this video managing my expectations. Lovely clouds. Great hair.

I can't wait for your next video! Like you said, we don't have a lot of time in day to work on our paintings, and I'm waiting to see how you work in sections. I've started painting after a very long time and I love painting with oil. I followed one of your painting tutorial and I messed up the on clouds! I'm waiting for my painting to dry up a bit so I can follow what you did in this video. Please don't stop making these videos. They are great and very helpful!

I love this tip! I'm using the water soluble artisan products from Winsor and Newton. Can I use my modified linseed oil as liquid clear? Thanks for all your help! Your videos are great!
@WildCreates
Жыл бұрын
Yes you can, Just make sure that Linseed Oil is ALSO water mixable. Otherwise you convert your paints over to non-soluble. If you are looking for more awesome cloud tips check out this video here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/m2iV2pp8aKuaZ9I.html

My favourite clouds are cumulonimbus, cirrus and cirrocumulus...but I never seen Bob Ross do the cumulonimbus in a extraordinary realistic way, especially the puffy part with all those round parts of the cloud without breaking into “steam”.

If I remember correctly - I think he does a few in season 2 and 3. You may wanna check those ones out. But I will see what I can do to make a video on this subject matter for ya in the future :)
Thanks for all the amazing Videos Wild. What are your thoughts on plain linseed oil vs Liquid clear as you base liquid medium?
@WildCreates
3 жыл бұрын
I use linseed oil all the time ( I like it ). I will say though, there is something about LC that is better. It flows more natural plus it smells better too :)

What kind of liquid did you use for wet on wet? Is it sensodore??
@WildCreates
Жыл бұрын
I generally use Liquid White or Clear as my base medium. I am not sure what "Sensodore" is?
I’m new at all this and between clouds and mountain I’m stressed. 😖 How long should I wait before applying clear to a fresh painting? Thanks

Just like you did on this demo. You painted liquid clear over the clouds and then added the crowns.
@WildCreates

In this video I wait just til the next day. Depending on the weather, you can do this step in just a few short hours OR you could even wait a few weeks. its really up to the artist.
