It's because humans constantly are out to "improve" on anything whatever it may be. Movies, music, rock walls, recipes. Sometimes some things are fine just the way they are. Like a walk along a beach at sunset..........how can that be improved? It just can't......

When I was 5 I cried to this song to my aunt not knowing why I was crying.. I had not lost anyone in my life. But she said I cried with a deep soulful cry every time it was heard. I lost my husband of 21 years in 2020 and this song came on and the emotions I felt as a child came flooding back… I am not sure but I think God was preparing me at that age of the pain I would feel… this song means so much to me.

These guys have performed one of the best love songs ever written. There’s hardly a love song out there that just nails it as The Flame does. They sing it with pure passion and pain. I’m hoping my ex wife listens to it.

I'm an 80's kid and this was and still is a wonderful ballad. They really don't make music like this anymore where folks put their heart and soul into the music.

These guys played the 1st night at The World Music Festival, LA Coliseum, April 7th, 1979; my first concert. Saw a lot of bands during that 2 day event, but came home with a Cheap Trick, Cheap Trick T-shirt. They had some great songs, but 10 years after their 70's breakthrough, they really hit it with this Classic Rock Ballad.

Wow, didn't realize that this song was so long ago in 1988. It is a beautiful song, but so sad, yet so powerful. I hadn't heard it for years but then it played on a station recently and this song has been stuck in my head.

Also one of my all time favorites…they are so underrated. Their live vocals are amazing and I see them every opportunity I get

I remember that song and even where I was when I was listening to it. I was pleasantly surprised by such an emotionally romantic song song with obvious passion from the heart. I was never a fan but I thought this came out about 1989 ? I remember their former works and this was certainly much different. I thought this was their last big hit, like a going away gift to their listeners. I was in over the road truck driver, the work was hard and the pay was low. I get emotionally teary eyed , because those were better days. I would willingly give up 100 days of my life in these times for just one day of life in the 1980's.

This song is a timeless classic. It is sad and also so great. Probably the best from Cheap Trick ever.🎶

I heard this song in may of 1990. Lost a dear person i really looked up to. I had turned 18 years old on February 17 of the same year. Man, it hurt so bad. I was a senior in high school about to graduate. My first real hiccup as an adult. Took me a very long time to even semi deal with my loss. I had never been through this before. Im 52 now and been through it many times now. I have to say it doesn't get any easier when you really deep down in your soul love someone. But i like to believe im a little stronger now because of the Grace of God. He gives me so much peace that can only come from Him.

Cheap Trick has always been a fantastic band, fun rock and roll but this song is beyond that. This song is beautiful and touches in a way that few songs ever have. Simply beautiful.

I had the privilege to see Cheap Trick at Back Alley in Houston in 1992. I won tickets on KLOL!

I'm so glad we have video of these great groups its the only way to go back and remember what a great and simple time we had and old friends we've lost along the way 😪

I'll never get tired listening to this song over and over again.

There are some songs that the lyrics will always hold meaning and a place in your heart from the first time you hear it to the day you take your last breath . This is one of those songs .

This is one of my favourite rock ballads. It's a great piece of music, and it touches my heart and soul.

I know this son is a love jam. I Remember my old man screaming this son to us his sons and telling us were his firsts and last 😢

Makes me cry almost every time but definitely strikes my heart. A sing like this brings you to your knees. Still singing along in 2023 😢❤️‍🩹

The entire 80's...golden era of music. So glad I was a part of that generation.

Bun E. Carlos is one underrated drummer. The "CRACK" of his snare drum cuts through the air like a .50 Cal rifle.

I'm sure Cheap Trick surprised 🎉 alot of people with this song ! They were such a great, rock band 🎸 I had the privilege of seeing them, with Ted Nugent and The Baby's back in the late 70's and they blew everyone away! I guess 😂 it only makes sense, that a great band could come out with a love song as beautiful 🦋🌷🌹 as The Flame 🔥 ❣️
