It always amazed me that CT would never acknowledge their Rockford Ill. roots in most of their early day interviews. They must have thought such association would not help them market their image. Now they don't seem to mind but you start to mellow out when you get into your sixties as many of them have. They have had a Rockford base since they started but always associated geographical allegiance to Chicago. Rockford is NOT Chicago but has its own history & identification.

I am a big fan of Cheap Trick. Rick often says his parents were opera singers. Is that really true or is it another one of his many jokes? He even called Sydney Opera house his "apartment"... In one of their songs there is a melody from "Il Trovatore" by Giuseppe verdi. Because I am a classical singer that is very amusing to me. In this interview Rick is telling so many jokes and questionable "facts". Now we can laugh about it but was that a "cheap trick"? I presume he was a naughty child. I really believed that Bun.E. was born in Venezuela. Was that also a "cheap trick"? Anyway, I love them and Cheap Trick forever!

Same old mindless questions, zero creativity, inspires a flat-line brain activity. On the other hand an off the cuff, spontaneous interview is so novel that you hardly see them. Same thing over and over, no matter what band - ya still hear every dumbfuck ask Mick or Keith how long the Stones are gonna stay together, what about the Beatles, blah, blah, blah....
I love these old interviews. The band members messed so bad with the interviewers.
The question at 5:30 is fun and the badness of the question brings out their great faces, attitudes etc.
Really great interview of a top band.
Don't touch the hat there Deidre.....*Damn* Still laughing!
I grew up on the Elvis, The Beatles, and The Beach Boys. When I heard "Mommy's alright, Daddy's alright, they just seem a little weird" blasting from my big sisters bedroom when I was a kid in '78 I lost my shit.
i love robin😣
They all bowed down to Rick it seems, he must have held the keys to the car.
lol at 3:08 when Robin peeks at the notes
They played this interview just like Nirvana would have.

Rick still lives here. He loves his hometown. I think maybe it was an easy answer. He's actually a really good guy. They all are. Bun still lives here too and hangs at a local bar during the week. They're extremely hometown proud and they definitely belong to us🤗👑
I wonder what Robin was lip saying to Tom?
Wow , that was a cool interview .. i wonder why they just didnt say they were from Rockford, illinois instead of saying "the chicago area " ? ?????
/uh! Robin Zander was so cute!
@reburos --ha! That is funny, isn't it. Back in the 'Sick Man of Europe' days they would sometime say they were from Madison, and, occasionally, Philly, ... but you've gotta admit, they really give props to Rockford these days. I was born and raised in Rockford, and lived there for 40 years, but finally had to leave. It ain't safe anymore.
@Berus7777 polite to an extent. LOL. Robin talks over her mouthing something to Tom at 3:27( LOVE IT...hee hee), that's not polite. He lip reads her notes while she reads out loud, looks at her notes while she looks away, what else....hmmm. He is just naughty. Can't say I would have been much better or worse sitting through the torture. Watch it again. It is hilarious! Tom politely calls her out. Rick is Rick. Bun E. may be trying not to laugh out loud or he is stunned or both.
It's funny how Rick talks about the future and says 1989. Is when his old Band stuff is going to be released weird huh?

Wow, this was hard to watch, pretty uncomfortable for her. Very interesting though, thanks for an unusual post.
Anyway, I love them and Cheap Trick forever!
is their drummer actually Sgt Shulchz ?
it would be nice if someone besides rick could talk in any of these interviews, jeez :/

WoW! This lady is about as bright as a cave, and just as dense! Good thing she was wearing a low cut shirt and was cute. I hear coke was pretty damn good back in the 70's.
