I bought the 14.99 light (now 19.99 probably due to this video hehe) and can attest that it is indeed an excellent light - great desk coverage, good level of brightness & it folds away nicely leaving me plenty of desk space - cheers Luke!

This is amazing! Finally cleaned my home office and ready to set my painting area back up. You are a godsend!
Cheers for this Luke, i've been struggling with this for years that lamp seems brilliant
The nova-blast at 0:28 got a good, big laugh out of me. This is a great video; really interesting, and full of solid insights.
Those little lights are really impressive, and really well priced too. Perfect for small hobby setups!
Looks a great light (1st one) now £29.99 on Amazon
After your old Neatfi video I decided to wishlist some of the cheaper ones on amazon, one day I found a similar MINLUK 14w one for £9.34 so I bought it and now having had it I would have happily paid more for it, it is so good. Thanks for putting out these videos to help people.
Your content is amazing brother. Keep the content coming, even the short ones like this. Helping the algorithm 🤙
Fastest purchase I've done in a while - thanks so much for making this video!
Good recommendation. I got my Neatfi lamp a couple of months ago and it is totally worth it.
I was literally just browsing the web last night for this exact thing. 10/10 timing.
I took a bottle lamp diy kit, made myself a hanging light, put couple hook in the ceiling, a good LED bulb and boom perfect lighting for my hobby space.
Great video dude! I can confirm both these lights are awesome. I use the ring light for lighting when I’m filming for videos and the strip light for livestreams. Both great.
My painting set up is very much a work in progress, so this is really useful - thanks!
Thanks for this! A while ago I bought a really cheap standing lamp and added a daylight LED to it. The thing wobbles, it's too high up, I can't really place it anywhere where it doesn't end up poking me in the head or shining in my face.. With so many different lamps to choose from, having an affordable option (and one that you can actually see in action rather than rely on marketing photos) is absolutely perfect! I bought the first one and am looking forward to using it.. :)
I’ve got that first light you showed and I like the small size and good light it gives. Good vid 👍😁
I use a small 4-inch ring lamp with a built in magnifying loupe. I think it was about £20 from Argos. Works great! Good video mate!
As someone who has just built his own lamp for painting: just get a 12v charger, some LED strips with at least 90 CRI and the cheapest lamp arm you can get (or salvage an old one) and you'll get the best lamp you can possibly have. For mine, I used: 1m (cut into 5x20 cm strips) of 95 CRI LEDs - 3$, 1 charger - 2$ and some PVC pipe I had lying around. I also had an old camera Magic Arm and some black spray paint to make it look cooler. Total cost - not more than 6 bucks (I had to buy a switch for 1 buck). This way it's cheap and you get the perfect color depiction. If anybody wants I can send you some pictures.
I’ve just set up a painting area in my unlit shed so duct tapped some lamps my wife didn’t notice missing to the shed roof! It looks like a bizarre. So this was very helpful. Thanks
Thanks man. That was very helpful!
@Geek Gaming Scenics, Luke thank you for this vid! I enjoyed your 2yr old vid on the 30cm x 53cm diffused flexible camera lighting setup. My last lighting setup took a crap and I was about to go w/that setup on the monitor stands... but was still not stoked on the $$$. I had been trying to find comparisons to the Neatfi lights to anything else ... Now that I see what's what I'm gonna go w/that skinny ass, foldable. The old video is still very relevant, so Thanks for all you do!
This is perfect timing. Just about to move back to the U.K. and was looking for light sources today. Great shout, now to weigh up the big spend vs the smaller one 🤣
I've had a Neatfi XL 2 in my basket for donkeys on Amazon but I've been waiting to convert my old room to hobby/office space before I get it, projects have ground to a halt in the interim so some of these are a nice short term option. Cheers Luke
Thank you very much for the informative video! :) Super cool beard btw! : D
Dammit Luke, just finished printing two angle-poise lamps for my setup and sourcing LED bars, PSUs etc.! came out no cheaper than your first one and mine don't fold away as neatly either. Then again, I /do/ have the satisfaction of going 'Hey, I made those.' On a side note, I think the seller's seen your video already...they're up to £17 now lol. Keep up the great videos, absolutely loving how you're showing how to model/paint on a budget, great for some one like me who's getting back into the hobby after a 20(ish) year sabbatical. LuvLuvLuv
The first models I painted as an adult after getting back into it in 2012 was under the extractor fan hood!! I would stand at the stove with my forehead leaning against the fan. Really uncomfortable but the light was superb!!

Wicked video man! Great subject. One thing I thought I would mention that wasn't noted in the video is making sure your LED lights have a variable light control. Many people will buy an LED light for streaming without knowing this and will find they have bars, blinking and other visual oddities because they cannot match the light intensity to the camera capture speed. Also LED lights come in many colour variations and will change the tone of what you see below you and what it looks like in natural light. Colour correction of blues, purples, and other colours can also be an issue with an LED light without any controls. Just a word of caution for anyone shopping for something outside products with recommendations.

@@GeekGamingScenics My experience comes from streaming on Twitch for 5 years and helping hundreds of my fellow streamers. The Logitech C920 is the most common web camera used for hobby streaming and you can only control these factors I mentioned with the LED control. Many LED lights only have one setting and I've seen thousands of dollars spent by my friends on subpar lights only to be replaced later.

I bought a bunch of lights before learning this the hard way. I use the logitech as well and it was a nightmare getting colour and lighting right for my stream.

@@GeekGamingScenics 100% I understand why it happens, I just thought I would mention this for anyone who didn't know. Like I say, this is som thing on Twitch we discuss almost daily because it's an issue for anyone who cannot afford a DSLR and buys an LED off Amazon without knowing.

@@GeekGamingScenics Yeah, it's been a few years now and I've mastered the C920 and lighting issue. I got a pile of LEDs that were suggested but gave me a ton of issues. Thankfully guys like Warlander on Twitch helped me out because I thought I was going crazy.

@@GeekGamingScenics Don't get me wrong the C920 is a workhorse. There are better webcams from logitech but they are horrible for mini painting. I bought a new version and ended up having to use it as my facecam instead. One day I will upgrade to a DSLR but after seeing many of my friends spend quite the bank to upgrade, the quality when streaming over Twitch isn't that much different when everyone is there to just hangout and have a good time versus needing to see everything in 8K. Would be great to have those features in a budget camera but I watch Linus Tech Tips and understand why it works this way.
Great info many thanks for posting
Hi Luke, just wanted to say a massive thank you. I ordered the first lamp yesterday, My study is dark even during the day despite being next to a triple-pane window. Just set it up and what a difference, it blew my Ikea lamp with daylight bulb out of the water, and in reality, when I bought a triple pack of bulbs for the Ikea lamp at purchase, your recommendation was probably cheaper Also. 10/10 PS will definitely be after more basing matériel soon also.
Thanks. Just ordered it.
Second light is £16 on ebay currently. Thanks for another great video, I just ordered one :)
Bought my Neatfi based on an older video you did before and I have to say it's worth every penny.
Nice video dude. My lighting was terrible up until very recently, a problem fixed kindly by Benji! It makes a huge difference ... can’t believe I struggled through not realising how important it was for so long 😅
always good to see cheap options for people
Thanks for your video!
I have two that are similar to the black one that are meeting up at about the centre of my desk. Can move one down when I need to but most of the time they do the trick and I don't need to do that. For a cheap option they're great
Thnx for the video! It's actually the only thing missing for my proper painting desk. I now use an old ikea desklamp, but even the bulb inside needs a solid 15 minutes to wake up :') .

I use a daylight led bulb from home bargains. Less than £2 and is 60watt equivalent. Its like turning on the sun in the room.
...clearly psychic. I'd been considering a new desk lamp just the other day as my current setup can best be described as "in the way".
Very important video. Thanks.
I purchased a 5m strip LED three years ago and made a Halo that I paint under, I also use a magnifier lamp and natural sunlight too
That intro just made me laugh so much 😂
Hi just got the £14.00 light but it had gone up to £16.99 still a great light and just looked and it’s now £21.99 So thanks for the review it’s a lot better than the light I had keep up the great work
Nice one mate
I'm getting them lights! Can always use more!
Solid vid, man
Ordered two of the skinny lad. Hope you're getting referral bonuses from Amazon, Luke. Good shout!
Thanks for the tips.
I have 2 of that little straight lamp on my desk, or whatever is the equivalent for the us market on Amazon. Got one for $13 and one for $16 (bought at different times). Plus a magnifier with roughly the same color temp. Probably have $45 in all 3. They are great and cheap and don’t heat up my work area.
Great topic!
Thanks for the video. I went to buy the cheaper lamp and talked myself in to buying the neatfi lamp instead haha.
Wow! And thanks for the like on my FB post Luke, really made my day
I've often wondered about the LED arm lamp, might be a good replacement for my current setup. Cheers!
Luke I managed to secure two small LED strip lights , plus a cube which gives me 4 240V sockets , plus 3 PC sockets for a total of £35, off Amazon and the strip lights are dimmable so harsh light or softer light which is ideal for painting my mini's which over next 6 months will be Blood Angels - big Red job ahead. Cheers for lighting update but I'm way ahead of you, I think!!
I'm looking for new light set ups I've been using 3 of them cheaper lamps for 2 years now and omg I've had it with them! There getting trashed! Lol I do like that neatfi one that looks perfect without having to go down the route of building an SMD light frame across the bench!
This is very good bud great stuff :-) I need to get a little light sometime in the future. But I am also a bit lucky in a weird way, I need glasses for looking at screens and such but I also have another odd thing with my eyes, My eyes take in too much light and lights and colours are pretty bright for me, this oddly enough makes it so I can paint pretty well with not great light (normal white house lights work great for me) odd yes ha but I will be getting a little light at some stage more so if I get into things for more than just personal hobby stuff:-)
Need to purchase one
This is why I can’t paint in the evening, you just can’t see a bloody thing even with the room lighting. I need a hobby lamp that’s gonna work
I use a huge neon tube shining on a white reflector and one diffused ikea lamp shining at the mini. 😀
Cheers Luke , ~Luv~Luv~Luv~
I have a similar long led lamp I bought cheap in amazon (like around 18€ or something), it has 3 intensity modes, I have it for a year. If you only paint once in a while it's more than enough.
Cool vid, I was thinking a ring light could work for painting. I might have a crack at testing a few different lights myself
I have a similar little angle poise light that cost me £25, its a bit brighter then the one shown but it's constantly flickering or going off completely unless I fuck with the lead and get it in the perfect position. And I only bought it about 6 weeks back. Something to bear in mind for people considering these cheap usb to adapter powered ones.
I paint sunshine hours. Or under a street lit window 😀 if they look good in the dark they should look awesome under a light
I used to have one of those VERY expensive daylight lamps, then it burnt out a couple of the tubes, and found it hard to find 5500kelvin daylight tubes for it. So I bought a couple of TERTIAL desk lamps from Ikea, and 2 1000 lumen TRÅDFRI wireless LED bulbs that I can remotely turn on and off with remote control, and I can adjust the kelvin temp and lumen intensity. 50 pounds in total I think.
Excellent lamps. For those still toiling as if it were the Victorian era, place your candle behind a glass or bottle of water and use that as a sort of lens. It will help focus what feeble light is put forth by the candle, allowing you to better labour for the benefit of others. Or apply paint to miniatures. Or maybe both. :-)
Thank you! I've used an IKEA lamp so far and I noticed that it just is not bright enough. Looked for the long thin one and ordered one just now.
Omg I feel so called out. Been painting with a headtorch recently...
Great video. Do you recommend the Neatfi lamp? I can’t see many reviews on it. Thanks
Great intro!!! I use whale blubber
Still using table lamp with daylight bulb, but really helpful vid, may consider the cheap option😁
Thanks for a great video. I've been painting using an overhead bendy-arm reading lamp with a daylight bulb in it which warms up quite a bit and causes my paints to dry out - even on a wet palette! So I've been considering LED lighting for a while. Will give that small strip light a go and see how we get on; for less than twenty quid, it's worth a go, right? :-)
Light is so important - if you can't see - after all if you can't paint!
I did add a 5ft led strip light to to the garage which is a nice just pottering around light but only have a cheap Lidl desk light which is not suitable
i just have an led bulb on a cable straight to a 3 pin plug , it has a clip on the side so you can mount it anywhere
They are bloody good lights for 15 quid nice video man

Amazing video actually. I have been using some LED lamp from walmart but its a bit spotlight-ey
I’ve just ordered the Tomshine one from Amazon for £16.99, hope it’s as good as they say.
I tried an LED lamp that looks the same as the first one but it was awful. Way too dull unfortunately. I ended up using fabric over looped cable ties taped to my dual lamps to diffuse the light from the super bright LED bulbs. I could have done it for nothing and just cut up and old white(ish) t-shirt instead of buying fabric too. It seems to work but I'd love the new Neatfi lamp.
Have that strip light myself worth the money 🤟
Painting by candel light does make cool b-roll footage
£105? holy crap! I have 4 desklamps to cover every angle and it would have only been 1/4 of that!
Very informative. But I think your previous video on lighting was better 😜
That yellow frog humanoid is sweet! Where did you get that and what is it called?
Does the first lamp in the shot require to charge or can it run off the mains? My current LED lamp doesn't actually run off the mains but charges an internal battery.
I paint by the fires of the houses of my enemies ,they're screams are a great background sound...
Great vid! Could you do one cameras??

Thoughts on Game Envy LUCENT Art lamp vs Redgrass R9?
hello, I had a question about the Neatfi lamp: since it has 5600-6000k, therefore a slightly blue light, and a CRI of 80, therefore not particularly high indeed, how does it behave with the color rendering? on the contrary, is the CRI> 90, declared by Skyleo, true or not?
Good video but I use a head torch.
