I have literally just taken the top of my table saw cos its pants and have been scratching my head on how to replace it. Have spent months looking at runner and slot solutions cos its got stupid slots and is just generally a pain in the arse! Could never find anything helpful that related to my saw and its "flaws" then lo and behold on the day removed the top I stumble across this vid about how to replace a top. Great idea I thought ... holy coincidence - its only the same Scheppach table saw 😂 finally I may have found my saviour today!! Miracles do happen 👍

I've done that with a similar saw called Einhell. But I milled it in that the saw got the angle-funktion. Nice to see that I'm not the only one who work with such a cheap saw😁. So, nice work, go on

simple way to improves the top table of TS, but awesome for me.

I always see at Harbor Freight Table saws being returned probably because the fences and the tables are too flimsy to last. Now I know what to do next time I see one that is really cheap. I am going to pick that sucker up and go and buy some nice birch or maybe MDF to save some money. Thanks for the great video!

Good job mate. I get caught with those mitre track slots too bro. U have to take ur time with those bad boys or else u get caught moving too fast and mess up a bit. I'm about to change out my TITAN SAW table top now this week. It's pure dog shit bro. I wish I hadn't wasted the 170 euros on it but I'm stuck with it now and not very happy. I am going to use some Ply 18mm or else MDF 18mm for my top. I'm not so sure yet but I have plenty in the garage in case I make any bad errors. My issue is trying to get the top off this bucket of a table saw. If I can sort that part out I can make it into a very usable saw for a couple of years until I work out if I want a better one like an Axminster or else a bloody top notch BANDSAW from the same ppl.. Both will cost me about 2,500 Euros so I wanna make the right choice in the end.. I don;t want to waste anymore of my hard earned cash bro.. I'm going to look for the PART 2 of this now so all the best and best wishes for 2023 my friend.. Hope u had a great Xmas 🎄 🎄

I have a table saw exactly like yours and I'm thinking to do what you did. I'd like to ask you if you still happy after two years of that rebuilding and if you remember about the noise, if the table saw became more quiet because of that. It doesn't really matter, as long as you plan on building the jigs yourself. Just chose something that looks good to you

hahah I have a similar saw I have been wondering about ways to mod it....the perfect youtube find. Cheers fella. i was wary or removing the top but it seems like a good idea now. oh and put a dust mask on when routing :-) was the plywood 18mm or 25mm?

I had my doubts whether you were really going to improve over the metal top. Pulling that flimsy top off the saw dispelled those doubts for me. I think I've drank beer in cans made out of thicker metal. What you might have been able to do was glue wood under that top and reinforce it. Because I think you're going to have expansion and contraction issues with the slots you routed. Just wooden runners in metal tops can be a problem.

Paul Frederick The issue besides flimsynes is also that the top was far from flat, with the thick plywood that no longer is an issue. And for the runners, as you will see in the next part, I'm using hardwood runners in the plywood top. So far it is working fine, and if it ever creates problems I can easily change it up.

They make aluminum channel profiles. I used some on my router table that I made.
