Cheap Bike Vs Super Bike | Do You Really Need A Top Of The Range Mountain Bike?

Спорт

It's not unheard of to spend £10,000/$10,000/€10,000 on an MTB these days. But do you need to spend such astronomical figures? To find out, Neil pitted his thoroughbred Pole Stamina 180, complete with SRAM AXS drivetrain and Trickstuff Direttissima brakes, against his bargain Facebook Marketplace find: the mighty Voodoo Hoodoo. How do the bikes compare? The results may surprise you!

@@larryhouse8358 Chain Reaction has the Nukeproof Dissent (Al 29") for £3300 at this point in time and the Vitus Dominer DH is selling for £2800. There are some "budget" DH rigs out there and the Vitus is surprisingly specced out with Boxxer Selects, Guide REs and a GX 7spd groupset. Sunringle wheels and Maxxis DH tyres set it up to be a decent entry DH bike. But I get your point, £3000 is just about the cheapest end of the DH market but, at least where I am in Wiltshire (UK), the second-hand market is full of heartbreaking listings, I'm talking custom builds with top end specs going for under £1500. This corner of the world doesn't really warrant big rigs and Enduros are apidly becoming capable of competing with DHs but are easier to live with day to day. We're seeing that reflected in many local shops and online now, people are moving toward hard-core trail bikes and Enduros and it's causing some reasonable offers on the bigger bikes.

The only thing on that bike that i was annoyed with was the entry level Sun tour "suspension". So if you feel you can't afford to get in to riding.. think again. buy a bike you can afford and ignore those on carbon bikes because you could end up with better skills than them.

I have a '99 Specialized FSR XC, silver, completely stock. The lines are so clean, it's an amazing looking bike. It never leaves my side when I'm out and has always been kept inside my room. I raced it in a Duathlon 3 years ago. I had tons of people ask me what it was and if it was new. It was almost 20 years old at that point but it's in mint condition. The aesthetics, the beauty of the design along with fitness for purpose shouldn't be underestimated when you are purchasing a bike.✨
