Cheap 89 buck Chinese X Y table Checking for Square Axis moves Try one

Ғылым және технология

So this is my first and what I will have to admit failed attempt to determine if the X and Y axis on this table are at right angles to each other. I will blame no one if they don't watch me stumbling around and trying to get something to work. I only place this out there for my viewers who sometimes wonder if I am just doing endless parties instead of some real work.

I think you need to use something a bit longer, like an engineering straight edge. I would have clamped it down until the angle read zero run out on your gauge indicator (put gauge to the far left a possible). You then need to move the gauge to the far right as possible but leaving the straight edge in the same position. This will give you your run out. Start with the axis at the bottom, then use your 1-2-3 block to do the other axis, and don't forget the +/- any deviation from the first axis. Hope this helps, I'm no expert, but I think this will help, maybe, good luck, my friend. If you got runout, record it over a set distance. p.s clamp the lot down to some first if your gauge can't fit on base and confirm and run out with a feeler gauge.Jim

I'm going to have to do something. The problem is that I have no tools that I know to be square. I have a couple of small machinist squares, but they are new to me and Chinese and so unproven. Such fun. I will find a way. I may end up loading some plastic onto the table and then try and use the drill press, which is another little bit of Chinese junk, to mill and then I can measure that. This is what the delay in this series is about right now, more thinking and less hands on.
