Thanks for this. Having the same issue with ours. Terrible design flaw with water running straight onto the wiring loom. Idiotic design and shocking that they ignore the issue.

Thank you for that. Today I discovered my air box and filter were completely water logged. Had to replace the filter and MAF sensor because of damage where the filter had broken up. Lucky didn’t get ingested and wreck the engine. What a crap design. I suspect with all the recent heavy rain this winter it has probably leaked through that centre wiper position. Going to check the van tomorrow to see if the drain holes are clear. But will need to find a solution to help protect the van when standing outside during the winter months.

It is crap but fixable however not totally. I leave a tin tray on top of the air box under the wiper mechanism to catch the water and check ir regularly 😔

Having collected our 2019 640 on Friday it was dissapointing to view your video last night, but we are thankful for people like yourselves who post your experiences. I might just have come across a remedy to protect the ECU and associated wiring by cutting a fairy liquid bottle in half then laying it on top of the ECU and fastening with two tie wraps

Hi Michael, thanks for the comments. Whatever works for you, sounds like a good idea to me. You will not be disappointed with the 640, we love it, yes there have been some issues mostly Ford based. Make sure you take to a reputable dealer, preferably a Chausson one and have the yearly habitation checks. Not sure where you live but I can recommend Highbridge Caravans in Somerset. Have fun on your travels 😊

Very helpful our 2023 Bailey Adamo 75-4DL has same issues Ford Cab 2019. I have sealed the windscreen but need the central tray. Also the bonnet vents let in water that sits in the bonnet shell hence the rotting of the black screeding.

Crap design, I still place a metal roasting tray under the central windscreen mechanism to catch water 🤬

My late 2023 Baily Admo broke down 3 hours from home, the issue was that it would not switch off, several weeks later Ford said it was due to water egress into the gear box.

Wow not heard that one before. Probably tempting fate, apart from our initial problems the Ford part has been faultless, our Chausson habitation however has had several water ingress issues, all sorted under warranty 😊

I feel your pain as we have a 2020 Chausson 708. I found ours leaked between the windscreen and scuttle and so ran a length of automotive rubber windscreen tape over the join, silicone sealed the wiper grommet which leaked and fitted flexible piping to drain the windshield water from the scuttle instead of it running through the wing, also sealed the aerial grommet with silicone 😩😩

Yep it's a crap design, Ford refer to it as a "wet engine" I have also sealed the windscreen to scuttle with black gaffer tape, not pretty but does the job, thanks for commenting 😊
