I am so proud to say its been 18 years but the past few years have "blessed" me with Lupus and this covid thing has caused my anxiety and mental health to suffer huge.. I will take all you have said- moving my body, exercise - I already eat well- and work on my mental/physical well being.. Tomorrow is my granddaughters 1st birthday so I am excited.. Always sending you and Olive love and prayers. ❤✌

Before starting this video I was trying to watch mental health education videos but it was weighing on me a bit too much, I needed to destress rather than focus on self reflection at the moment. However I really really love this integration of mental health talks and planty content. It makes the conversation a lot more approachable and relaxed. It is truly helping me self reflect with a positive attitude. I am so happy that your mental health has been improving and for a long time now you have been inspiring me to do the same for myself. (Recently learned this from Yoga and Plants with Roos' channel lol) Where Anoectochilus (another jewel orchid genus) are endemic to, some of the indigenous people call them "fairy clothes." The story goes that fairies can't stay out past sunset, so when they rush home through the brush, their clothes get caught, and fall off. Where those clothes fall, the orchids grow. It's the CUTEST thing in the world, if you ask me.

I've found that when my mental health is at a decline I do one of two things. I either adopt a bunch of new plants and spend all my free time trying to grow them perfect... OR, I watch all my plants slowly die one by one and feel worse and worse about myself the whole time. I'm glad we are both taking steps to learn how to take care of ourselves. We would take time to make sure our plants are thriving, we should do the same with our souls.

Ugh I hate the feeling of watching your plants slowly die everyday while you’re in a depressive phase. But in a way, they’re reminders that you need to change some day-to-day things that are not benefitting our mental health. @wildfern you are so good at listening to what your body needs and being a diligent, mindful planner and it’s very inspiring!

I'm so happy to hear you're doing better! 🙏 It's really crazy how much the mind and body are connected. 💪 I've been doing better as well! For me I have to make sure I maintain a stretching routine and am waking up early so I can give my mind the time to wake up and rise with the day. I've actually moved my stretching to the evening so that my mornings can be spent by making toast, having coffee, and watering plants. It's such a balancing act taking care of ourselves and especially those of us that have a sizeable collection. I learned a while ago that our plant's health are a direct reflection of how well we are taking care of ourselves. Whenever we get off track our plants will certainly let us know! Perhaps another way that plants are here to help us through it all. I freaking love PLANTS! 😊 Haha. Anyway, really glad to hear you're killing it! Keep up the good work. ✌️

For the jewel orchid it dislikes to dry out, just keep it evenly moist, it doesnt need all that high humidity so it skould be fine outside the cabinets :) and YES, thats a flowerbud :) and after the flower is done it will make side shoots as the mother stem wont grow anymore as the growthpoint became occupied bu the flowerspike. It's one of few orchids (together with the vanilla) that you can take cuttings from. If the leaves start to look pale it's an indication that it gets too much sun..... And super good work with your health, take care of yourself first and do what makes you feel good.

I put my jewel orchid in a wider pot because they like to spread out. The first layer is moss then under that is my regular potting mix. They push out new growth from all parts of the stem and root, so that's why I keep them on moss first then over some dirt.

Wonderful video, per usual 😊 Your jewel orchids are so pretty! I’ve been eyeing a jewel orchid (Anoectochilus chapaensis) but I don’t have experience with them, so I’m nervous to buy it. Also, I totally agree with running being a big mental health help! I started running when I was 12, and it’s been very important for my mental health the whole time (I’m 24 now). Trail running in particular has gotten me through my worst times, and literally saved me. It’s always nice to see someone else enjoying running as well 😌

I’m so glad your mental health is better I think talking about it helps. Trying to hide things when you put yourself out there, like you do makes it hard to carry on you can’t be yourself if you’re hiding yourself away.

I've had a Macodes Petola Jewel Orchid for about 2 years now and all it did was was die and get slugs until I repotted it about a month ago into half coco coir, half perlite with a little layer of moss just sitting on top to keep the humidity up and now it's sprouting a new leaf! I'm so excited because I thought for sure my plant was a goner. In case your Orchid takes a bad turn and you can't figure out why, I recommend trying a mixture like that before anything else so you don't get down to only 1 stem like me 😭

I'm in my late 30s now and medicated/ in therapy, but omg-- panic attacks in my twenties were unreal. I had to lay down and shut my eyes to ride in a car. I was not functioning. I didn't know it was panic attacks! It was so bad, and I had no healthy resources or stability. Now, i only get "panic-y symptoms" as i call it (and my psychiatrist lectures me that these are panic attacks, but I've felt the panic, and I like to make the distinction for my records. 😆) Ugh. You're doing it right! You've obviously got this. Your brain will just betray you sometimes. Also, etsy for crocheted garlands can be really cute and non traditional. A crocheted string of lights around a larger plant... that kinda thing.

First of all I am so pleased that you are feeling a lot better and doing well with your routines. So good to see you upbeat about things! Saw that you had posted a new chatty repot, so got my hot beverage and settled down to watch. That Wilbur graves Hoya is gorgeous! I actually got my first Hoya just over two hours ago and I can already see that it won’t be alone for long. It’s a krohniana Eskimo. I’m obsessed with the leaves! Love trailing plants and silver leaves so it was a no brainier. It was quite a ‘full’ pot too. Really pleased with it. I like the look of the Philodendron Narrow too. Will be interesting to see how it grows on the moss pole. Thanks so much for sharing 💚 and I’m looking forward to another, though belated, spooky repot👻🧟‍♂️

I heard so many people mention about mental health and anxiety and depression these days. This definitely wasn’t a thing when i was growing up or that severe. I understand that we all cannot be happy all day and everyday. I think that is just normal that is what makes us humans. I definitely have days where i just don’t want to do anything or shut myself out or have a good cry at night to relieve stress and unhappiness or stay in bed. Which does helps or take a nice bath with candles and relax with some wine when had a stressful tiring day.

Funny, I just watched the older video where you said you didn't like the Manjula and now I see you potting one up. That was the only plant on your plants you dislike list that I didn't agree with, I love my manjula! I have her growing up a pole and can't wait for the leaves to size up. Glad to see you eventually got one. Love your videos!

Great chatty repot! Love the little Hoya triplets🥰. I never thought about putting my Jungle Boogie on a moss pole, he is growing in such a perfect rosette fashion. I will have to really take a better look, don't know if there is an area where I can get him close to a pole without disturbing a beautiful leaf. I have never seen one on a pole. Love the Manjula as well 😍. Love them all!! 😁. Hanging Christmas lights would be great on your hooks( smart just leaving them there😘). Lights with a string of whatever you like for the season. Or you could put tinyscarves or tiny hats on your ghosts and ghostie pillow🥰. My Mom loves snowmen. She has 12 months of monthly themed snowmen that she changes out on a shelf, every month. So cute. Multicolored lights would make it more Christmasy or if you opted for white, they could be up all winter 😁😍. So many fun options 🤩. Love this video. Thank youuu. So happy that you are caught up and back into your routine,it lessens stress. Glad that you are feeling better as well. In your vlog you mentioned that you were busy with Olive issues and never got back to the subject. Is she continuing to do well? When will we learn who "we" is for you? As long as you are happy 🥰😍🤩😘💓

I wasn’t into Christmas until I realized I can make it how I want! So now I have a spooky witchy pagan Christmas! Aka how Christmas was intended to be celebrated before Christian’s came along! So now I look forward to it every year! I mean not as much as Halloween tho! But it’s fun! Example: instead of secret Santa do ‘secret satan’ were you pull a 7 sins prompt along with a name! And there’s lots of spooky Christmas movies like Edward scissors hands, nightmare before Christmas, all the ‘krampus’s’ or the lodge!

(And you don't feel the rush of "I should have be doing this or that bc is just 10 min of your day) I'm glad you are feeling better ❤❤❤
