ChatGPT Takes FULL CONTROL Of My Computer...

Using the "Self Operating Computer" projects, I let ChatGPT take complete control of my computer, and you can too! (although I wouldn't recommend it)

    I just wish something like this could be done locally. I can imagine the day coming quickly when we no longer have to learn to use weird interfaces in apps to find a specific setting to do a specific thing just so we can send a picture of our cat to someone where the computer itself deals with all that drudgery and constant change.

    @@AI_effect I wish. it just takes absurdly too many parameters to generalize enough, some of the 7b models are impressive as heck but they dont come close to being capable enough for this. I suppose it could work if a model was trained specifically for this purpose and the app used multiple models in conjunction, an llm for tasks, an image model for images, but it would be so slow and power hungry that there would be no resources left to run anything on the computer. I think before it happens in any useful way, we'll either need a whole new type of ai architecture that is more efficient, or cheap dedicated AI accelerater hardware. Right now using the cloud like this is the best option but I can't imagine wanting to send constant screenshots of my PC to some company. Still, I'd love to be proved wrong

    I'm curious if you could potential set this up inside of a virtual machine through something like VMware so that you could have a quarantined environment. Then have the virtual machine perform for indepth software tasks, like open up your video editor of choice and perform some simple edits on a set up clips you upload into the box. alternatively, since most cybersecurity testing tends to be done from inside a of virtual machine by default, could be an interesting method for a fully automated pentesting agent. ChatGPT has already shown some significant ability in writing scripts for exploits and detecting potential exploit vectors, given access to a full hacking box, who knows what we could get up to. That being said, finding a good way to keep the agent within a scope would be of upmost importance.

    Awesome, thanks so much for the review! I was really looking forward to this one. As a big fan of QMacros and LibreAutomate programs I've been thinking about such a thing for a long time. I understand that these are first steps, but my question is: can we expect a local version with a local LLM soon, and not a crazy price for each automation. Maybe it is possible to make AI recognizing most computer objects, and only in complex cases turn to GPT4 Vision?

  • @sebastianjost

    @sebastianjost

    Train or fine-tune a mich smaller vision model specifically on pc screenshots. Then you can get this locally, better and faster. However, many tasks require vast world knowledge to understand context and intention behind prompts better, at least as long as we use language as the interface. So some complexity is necessary. But eventually, we will get there. This tech will improve a lot over the next 1-3 years.

I always thought that the main issue with social media platform botting is the requirement of a phone number to create an account, captcha completion could always be outsourced to external companies for less than a penny. It is however extremely interesting to see how LLMs behave in social media environments, I ran a reddit bot for a day to see how much karma it could farm. It worked greatly and people really liked its comments, which were either extremely dumb and void or quite well written and measured. For less than 20 cents it farmed hundreds of karma points, which means people loved it. Just look up digital influencers. It will definitely be interesting to see how things go in that matter in the future.

    interesting to see this in action. I've been thinking for awhile now that if we had some sort of wrapper that looked like this and could access any programs we use, that we'd very quickly have the equivalent of "fully remote workers" that were just AI. And, on the other side of the coin, this is how Ultron gets out, ha.

    This can also be seen as a way to generate insane amounts of new data to train new models. Training a model to use a computer and learn from it seems to me like it could even lead to AGI... Because in our modern, digital world, you can learn almost everything online. This would be incredibly difficult to do though and there are still quite a few steps to make this feasible. This may not just be how Ultron gets out, but also how he will have been created.

    @@sebastianjost yeah, in my opinion we get AGI once GPT4 can operate a computer, is multimodal for inputs and outputs, and has a context horizon that is comparable to humans. I think all this Q* math breakthroughs and Google Deepmind materials science breakthroughs are the early stages of ASI when that gets combined with those AGI components

    Not sure I want to use it if it's using GPT4, but I see that other models are being added in the future, so when it works locally with GPT4All I'll give it a try. Combined with speech-to-text and text-to-speech, we won't even need a keyboard and mouse anymore.
